Pharmacy Technician

A Pharmacy Technician position in Irving, TX is available courtesy of Adecco Medical & Science. In this role, you will be working in completes patient orders by selecting medications as indicated on the patient medication profile; assists in preparing and labeling of intravenous medication orders including total parenteral nutrition products and chemotherapy products using proper sterile and aseptic technique. Places medications in designated area for pharmacist to check, sends/delivers medications as required. This is a contract position until March 2019.

The Pharmacy Technician in Irving, TX job responsibilities include:

Compounds and handles hazardous medications in accordance with established guidelines and regulations (i.e. USP 797)
Answers phones in a courteous and timely manner. Attends to customers in a timely manner. Assists in preparation of stat items, investigating and preparing missing medications, and serves as a bridge between the customer and the pharmacist. May reorder as necessary to maintain a continuous inventory of medications and supplies. Receives, checks in and restocks medications ordered through wholesaler and other vendors
In coordination with Pharmacy Management, completes documentation of refrigerator temperatures, IV hood cleaning, equipment maintenance and other activities as required.
Compounds specialty drug products. Uses aseptic technique when compounding sterile drug products. Completes accurate documentation of items compounded and repackaged.
Performs quality control activities related to sterile compounding and the clean room per company policy.
Works to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, State, Federal, OSHA and other regulatory standards. Follows all applicable policies and procedures.
Completes other projects and duties as assigned by Pharmacy management


Qualifications:

Minimum of high school diploma required.
Current state license or national certification without restrictions based on regulatory requirements of worksite.
Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy technician experience with home infusion or minimum of 1-year specialty pharmacy experience.
Proficient in aseptic technique and intravenous solution compounding - requires TX IV Certification.
