Adecco is searching for a local Planner for a local Client with a 6-month project in Wilmington, MA 01887 for a large leading global manufacturer of Aerospace and Denfense.

Length of W-2 position: 6+ Months contract with possible extension based on need

Pay Rate: $39.50/hourly

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans and purchases materials to ensure production schedules are met and customer deliveries are on time.
• Frequent interaction and collaboration with other functional areas, i.e., Sales, Customer Service, Production Planning, Sourcing Leads to assure metrics are achieved.
• Manages supplier relationships, procures goods and services, including raw materials, tools, parts and supplies to support production schedules.
• Works closely with multiple departments to keep them apprised of delivery schedules, quality of product, defects and corrective actions to support Engineering, Production Scheduling and Sales to advise delivery of material relating to production and on time delivery.
• Implement Supplier Managed Inventory programs.
• Analyze material requirements and planning reports to establish an optimal supply of material to support a Demand Base Flow Manufacturing pull system.
• Notify Management of any inventory or demand activity that appears to be extraordinary.
• Monitor Supplier Change Requests for assigned commodities and work with management with regard to cost changes or part obsolescence.
• Expedite supply when required to ensure on-time shipment and resolve any current or anticipated shortages.
• Negotiate with suppliers on delivery, quality, costs and packaging, securing both short and long term commitments.
• Resolve any issues causing non-conformances that lead to parts not being successfully processed into production inventory.
• Maintain accuracy of MRP (Purchase Order details) to allow for accurate manufacturing planning and supplier performance monitoring of On-Time Delivery.
• Follow-up internally and externally (with supplier) to monitor supplier corrective actions and process improvements.
• Work with suppliers on performance improvement opportunities, ensuring continual supply while adhering to cost/inventory objectives.
• Meet or exceed cost reduction initiatives



Experience / Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement and working in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in reading blueprints, working with BOM’s and familiarity with an on-line MRP system
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes of some or all applicable commodities – precision
machining, castings, electronic components, PCBA’s, cable assemblies.
• Procurement and negotiation skills, planning, inventory management and scheduling skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and
meet the deadlines.
• Strong computer skills: Word, Excel and experience with a major ERP system (Oracle or SAP)
