Prep Cook III

We are currently seeking an experienced prep cook for an advanced culinary position in Corning NY. This is a full time, long term position - 40+ hours per week. $18-$20 per hour depending on experience!

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This position requires advanced culinary knowledge and skills.  Under direction of the Executive Chef, prepares and produces food items as required per customer requirements.  Assists the Executive Chef with inventory and ordering and recipe creation.

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND FUNCTIONS

  • Sets up and breaks down work stations
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station
  • Cooks and prepares food according to production guidelines and recipes
  • Expert level knowledge of food product, identification, and acceptable level of food quality
  • Ensures food is stored and prepared at the appropriate temperature for the appropriate length of time and follows all food safety standards
  • Completes daily temperature logs
  • In the absence of the Executive Chef monitors the day to day operations of the kitchen
  • Assists the Executive Chef in menu writing

 

STATUS AND SCOPE:

  • This position reports to the Executive Chef
  • Position requires the ability to be detail oriented, have a strong customer service focus, and a positive attitude
  • Must be able to work independently and in an efficient manner
  • Must be prepared to help whenever needed
  • This position requires expert culinary knowledge and cooking technique

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expert knowledge of cooking methods, cooking line, banquets, catering and pastry
  • Excellent knife skills
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in working in a kitchen
  • Must have the ability to walk or stand for up to 16 hours
  • Experience in training and developing cooks
  • Experience in inventory and ordering and menu writing
  • Serv-Safe Certified preferred

 

 

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:

  • MEDIUM-  Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds

Must have high school diploma or GED, must be able to meet specific background requirements.
