Prior Authorization Pharmacist

A Prior Authorization Pharmacist job opportunity in Sugarland, TX is now available through Adecco Medical & Science. This is a contract position starting November 19, 2018. The training hours for the first 4 weeks are 8:00am-5:00pm. Monday- Friday. Your shift will be determined after training - must be available to start as early as 5am and work an 8 hour shift with an hour lunch. Candidate must be available as early as 5am and as late as midnight. The tentative work schedule will be Monday through Friday (40hrs / week) – various shifts (4am-10pm Pacific)
• Saturdays: 8am -5pm CT by rotation
• Sundays: 8am -5pm CT by rotation

Responsibilities:

Work is computer based and include receiving phone calls from prior authorization pharmacy technicians and/or providers for clinical information
Consult physicians/providers with questions, interpret clinical guideline criteria, and render/review coverage determination for prior authorization cases
Consult with pharmacy technicians and/or physicians regarding use of medications and advise of appropriate formulary alternatives when requested.
Gather complex clinical information, coverage policy and criteria information and work within regulatory guidelines to make coverage determinations
Organize workload, sets priorities, completes assignments in a timely manner and utilizes resources appropriately while complying with department program standards
Perform all duties and functions in compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
Conform with and supports department quality assurance and improvement guidelines
Dedication to build rapport with coworkers, internal customers, and other departments by demonstrating a strong customer service orientation and a continuous positive image of the company.
Demonstrate ability to maintain productive working relationships with team members, other internal and external customers, and management team.

Qualifications:

Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license is state of practice
Strong drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledge is required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills are required
Experience using online clinical references and accessing professional (clinical and regulatory) internet sites
Experience working with onscreen document images
Computer and typing proficiency is required, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required
Participating in overtime as required based on business needs
