POSITION: Process Improvement Specialist I
LOCATION: Middlesex, NC
HOURS: Full-time
DURATION: 1-year, with potential to extend or go permanent, depending on client's need
PAY: $33.00/hr.

Responsibilities / Job Description

Partners with plant team to develop and execute the continuous improvement strategy in facility. This includes execution of top down Key Objectives, leading of Rapid Improvement Events, and deployment of the Continuous Improvement Framework.
Directs activities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Inventory, and Cost utilizing the Client's Lean Six Sigma methods (ELSS).
Trains all employees and deploys the Lean tools (5S, VSM, Standard Work, Setup Reduction, TPM, Problem Solving, Material Flow, and Six Sigma). Conducts training needs assessment associated with ELS and facilitates site ELS tools training for all employees.
Leads or facilitates projects or events such as Kaizen events, business process improvements, and Rapid Improvement events (RIE) to drive short-term and long-term business improvements.
Oversee and coordinate production methods and modifications for production efficiency and cost control.
Conduct studies to prepare and recommend new and revised operating procedures to maintain control, improve operations, and facilitate processing. Compile and analyze significant data relative to the solution of lean/manufacturing problems and/or cost reduction studies.

Primary Function
Responsible to lead practical application of the Lean/Continuous Improvement tools and conducting/leading Kaizen events through all areas of the plant. Leads the necessary training and deployment programs. Trains the plant employees in various ELSS tools and subjects. Leads assessments with division team members, monitors assessment outcome and corrective action plans, and impact on business results.

Basic Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
6- months of professional experience with Lean, Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence.
Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Preferred Requirements

1-2 years’ experience deploying Lean in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment
Green Belt Certification

Position Criteria

Knowledge of Lean/Continuous Improvement practices.
background in lean manufacturing, multi-functional project teams and successful hands-on implementation with some experience with Six Sigma considered a plus
Ability to coach and mentor process owners and project owners
Knowledge and use of engineering-related computer tools is preferred
Possess the strong communication skills necessary to effectively interface with teams ranging from staff level to shop floor personnel
Requires strong leadership skills, necessary to lead by influence to be successful in this position
Comfortable with leading groups at all levels of the organization
Self-motivation and time-management skills are necessary
Ability to plan, organize and build effective teams and motivate others
