Job Responsibilities/Description: 

  • To leverage spend on an enterprise-wide scale, strategic sourcing and category/supplier management are critical aspects of the corporate strategy. McKesson has launched an Enterprise Sourcing and Business Optimization organization to drive world-class results. Category Consultants are an important role providing a number of functions which include analysis, negotiations, implementation planning and Project Team coordination, development of communication plans, drafting of policies, report development and review, and a variety of other roles in support of the Category Director.

    - Drive effective strategic supplier relationships, risk and compliance management programs within assigned categories
    - Build sourcing pipeline incorporating multiple internal and external sources of data
    - Develop and monitor category benefits and other key performance metrics
    - Lead contract development and negotiation; act as a liaison between suppliers and McKesson internal groups
    - Lead contract implementation directly or together with the Program Management Office
    - Lead reporting for the category: forecasting, spend, savings, supplier performance metrics
    - Assist periodic supplier business reviews
    - Serve as linkage to BU finance, ensuring reporting is meeting needs
    - Develop plans for, or lead, resolution of supplier performance issues
    - For smaller spend sub-categories, plan, deploy and disseminate category strategies and plan and conduct sourcing projects by engaging stakeholders and the required cross-functional resources
    - Project manage initiatives of various nature, from assembling and managing cross-functional teams to implementing the outcomes of the projects across multiple Business Units
    - Execute management strategies and activities and of strategic sourcing process and approaches for assigned categories/sub-categories
    - Manage internal relationships with business for assigned categories
    - Demonstrate impeccable ethics and fully support McKesson ICARE principles

    - Business analysis skills to drive and implement key category operations activities
    - Thorough knowledge of 7-step strategic sourcing
    - Previous experience in leading or assisting with sourcing projects
    - Understanding of the Travel, Card & Fleet spaces; previous experience in negotiating deals with Airlines and/or Hotels and/or Travel agencies
    - Strong analytical skills; ability to navigate multiple data sources, read the data and arrive to conclusions and recommendations based on data
    - Ability to map out processes, identify operational flaws and recommend improvement solution
    - Understanding of the purpose and approach and ability to contribute to category strategies 
    - Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
    - Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, both as a lead and as a part of a team
    - Ability to work in a team environment to collate and act upon feedback from all levels within the business and sourcing environments
    - Ability to manage multiple activities across more than one category 

    - Previous experience working in the sourcing department for a large scale organization ($1BN+ in revenue preferred)
    - eRFx and eProcurement/P2P experience is a plus
    - Mastery in MSOffice tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    - Detail oriented
    - Business case development and project management
    - Proven project management skills

    - BS/BA required
    - 5-7+ years of relevant experience
    - Globalization (NA & EU) experience a plus
    - SAP SRM, Ariba, or similar technology solution experience a plus
