Hours are 6:00am - 6:00pm and 6:00pm - 6:00am 12 hour shifts 3 days 1st week, 4 days next week rotation.

**Position requires the ability to interpret Blueprint Reading**

The EDM Worker will be responsible for performing job functions associated with using the Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) to modify specified products, both sterile and non-sterile, purchased or manufactured according to the specifications and requirements. This position requires employees to follow a production plan assigned by their general supervisor.
Must be able to rotate through different areas of the EDM process.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Training:
• Actively participate in the personnel training required to improve individual performance.

General EDM Functions:
• Maintain a safe and clean work area including machines to perform EDM operations.
• Record/track downtime including logging incidents into GMS.
• Perform labor transactions in J.D. Edwards, The Data Acquisition and Reporting System (DARS), and Respective Log Books.
• Transfer work in process goods to other departments/areas.
• Perform and record In-process Inspection to insure released products meet released prints using basic measurement devices 
and Comparator overlays.
• Use Micrometers, Calipers, Drop Gages and various go/no-go gages to inspect and measure product.
• Process product through drying ovens as specified.
• Perform alignment procedures on all equipment in EDM department.
• Record/track downtime including logging incidents into GMS.
• Follow & Maintain production plan schedule otherwise specified by supervisor/team lead.

Set Up EDM Wire/RAM/Hole Drill Machines:
• Install and align specified fixtures and tool holders.
• Use Dial indicators and gages to align product and fixtures.
• Use tether control to maneuver EDM machine.
• Download and transfer programs from company server via Factory NET onto designated EDM machines.
• Make adjustments and corrections in set-up as required meeting Device specifications.
• Acquire and understand operational OS Specifications & Blueprints for setup process.

Maintain Equipment:
• Perform in-process equipment inspections.
• Perform and document all preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
• Perform EDM filter and resin bottle changes as required.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness as per 5S standard & checklist.
• Provide solutions for 5S improvement.

Cleaning:
• Complete in process cleaning of product using a Vapor Degreaser as required.
• Perform graphite electrode cleaning using a surface grinder.
• Clean interior tank basin, including removing remnants, by shift or by completion of work order.

Expected Areas of Competence
• Follow approved standard operating procedures & safety procedures while:
• Working with standard measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and scales in both metric and English system.
• Working with and around Hazardous process materials.
• Using some power tools and light machining equipment.
• To put health, safety and quality first. Put forward a behavior appropriate and conducive to a healthy and safe work 
environment.
• CNC or Conventional Machining Skills preferred.
• Ability to set up and operate Wire and Ram EDM machines. Ability to read and interpret all device prints.
• Ability to follow directions from supervisor and team lead.
• Ability to read and understand all aspects of device blue prints.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to use precision measuring equipment as necessary to perform inspections.
• Must have the ability to participate and interact in classroom environment.
• Must be able to work a variety of different shifts including weekends.

Education/Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Machine Shop math training or better is a plus.
• CNC or Conventional Machining Skills is preferred. (EDM experience is a plus)
