Essential Duties & Responsibilities for Production Planner Job

Plans and prepares production schedules for assembled products
Coordinates activities to fulfill sale orders, meet inventory needs and deliver products on time
Creates transfer orders and makes adjustments to orders as required
Confers with supervisors of other departments to coordinate flow of materials and products
Assists various other departments to resolve discrepancies
Acting backup for Receiving, Shipping, and storeroom as required
Writes procedures as directed for Material/Product Planning, Materials Transfer, and Capacity Planning
Creates schedules that establish time limits and sequences of production operations
Monitors production of US products assigned to international sites
Establishes required processes and schedules to meet shipment dates
Schedules and monitors work to meet the production schedules, domestically and internationally for US products
Effectively uses all planning tools and input to determine resource allocation and long-term resource planning
Responsible for updating and maintaining computer data to ensure database integrity
Utilizes and practices continuous improvement methods
Performs other related duties as assigned


Production Planner Qualifications

Associate’s Degree with 1-2 years’ experience in Logistics or Materials Management
Knowledgeable of manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment for electrical and electronic products
Strong quantitative and analytical skills with familiarity with Logistics, Materials Management, and Production Planning concepts
Must have knowledge of production scheduling and operations directly related to low volume high mix products (prototype and custom equipment)
Must be proficient in the use of software applications:
Basic knowledge of accounting principles, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO quality standards
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for short and long durations
