Production Supervisor

Job Description

The Production Supervisor that will lead an assigned production team to achieve goals and problem solve while demonstrating a commitment to employees safety, teamwork, and product quality. The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the team, auditing quality and productivity, and utilizing leadership skills to promote communication and innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supports and trains Team Members in all essential functions and skill sets as required effectively operating and continually improving their processes.
Prepares the floor, insures jobs are set up and participates in changeovers as needed. Helps troubleshoot issues and works with the Team Members to resolve.
Interprets, understands, and manages reports within responsible area such as throughput, yield, etc.
Effectively communicates with and motivates employees in order to drive productivity and achieve company goals.
Supervises employees to maintain discipline, teamwork, and safety so that daily production requirements are met.
Responsible for scheduling, tracking attendance, and reviewing and approving time off for their direct reports.
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities between departments.
Promotes a safe work environment as well as meets safety requirements complying with all policies or regulations set forth by client, OSHA, and various government agencies.
Fosters a continuous improvement culture for direct reports. Ensures operations are being performed appropriately in order to improve processes and to continually find ways to drive out waste.
Collaborates with the functional areas of operations such as Human Resources, Safety, Repair, Quality, Shipping and others.
Administers disciplinary actions and recommends performance improvement actions in collaboration with HR.
Promotes a cooperative and harmonious environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement.
Helps resolve any safety, utilization or delivery issue.
Monitors the production environment and identifies abnormal and out-of-standard conditions. Once identified, promptly implements appropriate countermeasures (both temporary and permanent). The top priority is to take preventative actions that maintain worker safety, product quality, overall equipment effectiveness, productivity, and cost targets.
Timely and effective execution of action items, using team and external resources that have been provided, including escalation of concerns to higher levels of management when appropriate.
Will be required to prepare for shift hand offs prior to and after the shift.
Assists in evaluating work cell capacity and manpower planning.
Supervisory Responsibility

The Production Supervisor manages all employees within his/her production team and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the team.
