Profile for Human Resources Specialist


Position Summary: This position is responsible to provide support and training to program clients by performing »skills assessment, job orientation and offering assistance in the job search process, including cover letter and resume writing, job openings search, and interviewing techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following, but not limited to:

Review the assessment of the client’s workplace skills including computer techniques.
Evaluate skills, aptitudes and interests of the client to do the training in order to find a job or internship.
Train the clients to prepare a resume and a cover letter to include with job applications.
Review business writing skills especially as they relate to grammar and spelling.
Review telephone etiquette especially for jobs that require inter-action with customers.
Review general customer service skills.
Train the clients regarding interviewing techniques including follow up.
Train the clients regarding workplace expectations.
Train the clients regarding networking skills.
Identify and recommend solutions to any barriers to employment.
Assist clients in searching and applying for jobs online.
Assist clients regarding professional appearance at the workplace.
Assist in placing VR clients in competitive employment and follow up for 90 days.
Have knowledge in-demand occupations, career pathways and labor market information.
Create Client employment placements in the community
Engage employers and employment services such as Career Source of South Florida
Plan and Coordinate Pre-ETS work experiences.
Coordinate paid musical performance for music clients
Identify potential places for work-site tours and exploration
Provide coaching to students during work experience placements.
Complete notes and reports for all activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum of one year of experience working in the field of Human Resources, employment services, job placement or vocational services and successfully placed clients in jobs.
Must be knowledgeable of community employment resources and stakeholders
BA Degree required.
Must complete DBS Employment Outcomes Professionals II (EOP II) training.
Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and disabilities preferred.
Excellent communications skills in verbal and written English.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Ability to provide instruction on resume preparation, job seeking, and interviewing skills.
Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet research.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
High degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and criminal background screening.
