POSITION: Program Manger

HOURS: Full-time
DURATION:  3 - months, with potential to extend, depending on client's need
PAY: $75.00/hr.


Responsibilities Job Description


The Program Manager provides highly developed initiative and leadership skills and is responsible for ensuring that the overall program structure and program management processes enable the component teams to successfully complete their work and that the component deliverables can be integrated into the program’s end product, service, results and benefits. 


1. Program Delivery 
• Provides a framework for benefits management, stakeholder management and program governance 
• Ensures that program plans and component projects are in alignment with program/strategic goals 
• Enables optimized or integrated management of cost, schedule and effort 
• Works closely with PMO Management Teams to ensure that component projects are organized and executed in a consistent manner that meets established standards 
• Interacts with each component Project Manager to provide support and guidance on the individual projects as well as to convey the important relationship of each project to the bigger picture 
• Effectively manages program risks, issues and changes 
• Applies expert level understanding of the Program Management knowledge areas and key processes 

2. Communication and Organization 
• Ensures that a thorough understanding of stakeholder communication needs is integrated into the program planning process 
• Ensures effective communication across complex program teams and key stakeholders 
• Effectively establishes, communicates and continually manages expectations of team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion 
• Provides regular updates on key milestones, deliverables and metrics to program stakeholders, steering committees and executive management 
• Fosters an environment which encourages clear communication across multiple business units, sites and functional areas 
• Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervises team members and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work 

3. Program Management Effectiveness 
• Provides an appropriate level and of style of leadership for the program 
• Organizes effective cross functional virtual teams and steering committees 
• Builds rapport with and among all program and project stakeholders 
• Instills confidence in leadership ability 
• Facilitates team participation, conflict resolution and consensus building 
• Utilizes a variety of reward and recognition methods to motivate team members 
• Effectively utilizes the company standard program and project management tools 
• Shows consistency among principles, values and behavior and demonstrates honesty and integrity 

4. Operational Excellence 
• Looks for opportunities within the department to make continuous improvements in key processes, techniques and procedures, enhancing the department’s ability to meet customer needs 
• Stays abreast of knowledge of industry practices and trends 
While this position has no direct reports, program managers are responsible for orchestrating the work of others to successfully deliver results. 

While this position has no direct financial responsibility, program managers are responsible for monitoring, tracking, and reporting on financial activity related to their program. 

• 10+ years of senior level program and project leadership experience 
• Experience in a PMO environment 
• Experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment 
• Experience with Enterprise Project & Portfolio Management tools 
• PMP Certification is required 
• PgMP certification preferred 
• Level of knowledge acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT related area 

Environment/Physical Demands: 
This position requires spending long periods sitting at a computer and talking on the telephone. In addition, program managers occasionally need to carry laptop, LCD projector, and papers to meetings for use and/or distribution. 

Travel Required: 
Some travel may be required (typically less than 20%)
