Currently seeking a full time / direct hire Project Engineer for a specialty chemical company in Houston, TX.
The successful candidate will then transfer to a Process Engineering role responsible for manufacturing
process technology, the technology transfer of processes from R&D to the plant, process reliability and
repeatability, product yield and quality, equipment design. This position is also responsible for process
control safety, technology documentation, corrective action and minor capital projects initiated by the
department.
Essential duties include:
• Supporting a domestic Project Manager and a Global Project Team for the required
engineering required for project design, costing, procurement, construction and startup
• Demonstrated expertise in Front End Engineering Design (FEED)
• Capital project management to include coordination of all phases of capital projects from
business justification to start-up including scope development, evaluation and selection of
technical alternatives, construction management and start-up
• Report key project performance parameters
• Integrate new technologies into the plant manufacturing processes
• Demonstrate knowledge of chemical industry unit operations
• Demonstrate knowledge of automated process control systems
• Apply engineering expertise, analyze data for trends, and identify process & operational
improvements
• Preparing deliverables including: material balances, flow sheets and design calculations
• Follow all of the ISO procedures regarding process control and documentation
• Coordinating chemical technology transfer from the R&D labs to manufacturing
• Investigate and plan corrective actions along with applying statistical techniques in order
to improve, track, investigate quality problems
• Apply root cause analysis techniques and creative alternatives to technical related
problems
• Maintaining effective communications and working relationships with operators,
maintenance, project engineering, contractor, administrative support, and R&D personnel
• Provide knowledge of engineering concepts to include thermodynamics, heat transfer,
etc.
Candidates for this position must have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• Five to seven years of Chemical batch processing experience
• Previous chemical plant construction build experience
• Statistical Quality Control experience
• Direct, chemical plant production involvement
The ideal candidate would also have the following skills:
• Experience with Surfactant Manufacturing to include ethylene oxide & propylene oxide
• PE License
• Experience with Honeywell DCS
