Project Superintendent – PennDOT
Central Pennsylvania (PA)

Adecco direct-hire group currently has an available opening located in the State College, PA area for an experienced PennDOT Project Superintendent. This position is designed to manage the overall operation including hands-on work for large road and bridge construction projects located throughout the Central Pennsylvania area. Key attributes needed for a successful applicant include strong knowledge of PennDOT road construction processes including paving, traffic restrictions and bridge reconstruction. As the Project Superintendent – PennDOT, you will be responsible for the following:

Perform short and long-term scheduling to maximize the utilization of crews, equipment and materials
Maintain strong communications with other departments including sales, aggregate plant and trucking teams
Complete all required paperwork and reports
Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and feedback to all team members
Ensure proper safety protocol is being followed daily and address any safety concerns immediately
Enforcement of all company policies and procedures, administering discipline if necessary

Required areas of knowledge for the Project Superintendent – PennDOT position include:

Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations (PennDOT preferred but out of state DOT experience will also be considered)
Pub 213 traffic control guidelines and specifications
Working knowledge of road and bridge construction equipment (bulldozers, backhoes, excavators and grading equipment)
Experience working with construction drawings and diagrams – ability to read these at an advanced level required
Project scheduling experience required
Ability to work 50+ hours on a regular basis
Willingness to travel as needed (per diem and housing is available for projects located further than 50 miles from State College, PA)


High school diploma or equivalent required. Post educational degree in construction, engineering or similar is preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a construction leadership role
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required
Excellent interpersonal communications skills
Strong analytical, organizational and motivational skills

Physical requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to walk and work in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain
Able to wear all required personal safety equipment

The Project Superintendent – PennDOT position is a full-time, year-round, permanent position. Pay is on an hourly scale and is eligible for overtime pay. Expected annual pay is in the $90-100K range and includes a company vehicle (or vehicle reimbursement), Excellent benefits package, paid time off and retirement plan.
