Title: Experienced Purchasing Agent.  Must be able to start ASAP!! Exceptional pay and benefits. Ideal candidate must be detail oriented and have a construction background. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for providing the most cost-effective logistical solutions to the business in accordance with the company’s quality standards, financial goals and service expectations. This individual is specialized and impacts the business through continuous realization of financial savings, process improvements as well as ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with internal as well as external customers.

 

Adecco, Better Work Better Life!! Seeking a Purchasing Agent with a minimum of 3-5 years of supply chain experience that can carry out many job duties.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supports day-to-day operations while ensuring that the needs of internal and external customers are met or exceeded by:
    • Arranging and monitoring domestic and international shipments via ocean, rail, road and air
    • Effectively communicating shipment details and status updates to all stakeholders
    • Identifying contingency plans in case of schedule deviations and other operational issues
    • Reviewing all incoming invoices and ensuring that all charges are supported with appropriate documentation, and are compliant with current agreements
    • Review, monitor, and manage stock material levels
    • Track and manage excess materials
    • Preparing customs documents for cross-border shipments
    • Liaise with all departments on bi-annual inventory requirements
    • Liaise with all departments on all transportation / logistics requirements
    • Working with different stakeholders and identifying opportunities for process improvements
  • Works closely with HSE on investigation and conflict resolution associated with incidents and claims
  • Reviews and negotiates contracts with new and existing customers
  • Works with various groups throughout the organization to identify forecasting and capacity constraints throughout the supply chain
  • Establishes goals, develops and executes plans within a project as well as identifies priorities and determines direction of the project
  • Supports projects of all sizes:
    • Collects all necessary details about projects
    • Prepares and issues RFQs
    • Analyzes bidders’ responses and negotiates quotes
    • Recommends the most suitable logistical solution taking into consideration various KPI’s
    • Prepares comprehensive budget estimates
  • Recommends strategies and offers solutions that lead to continuous business improvement
  • Provides back up for the Logistics Supervisor (vacation coverage)
  • Coordinate, facilitate, create, Implement and manage highly customized and specific project logistic requirements.
  • Manage and administer all required HS code documentation and specifics to ensure CRA compliance.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance at all times. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management
  • MUST have experience with Oracle
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in domestic and off-shore logistics
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in supply chain management
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer service/support
  • Robust knowledge in transporting over-dimensional loads using four modes of transportation - road, rail, ocean (vessel and barge) and air
  • Strong understanding of import and export customs requirements and all relevant HS codes
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and extensive customer service experience
  • Excellent analytical skills -  able to recognize and assess business impacts of operational processes, as well as identify opportunities for improving efficiency
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines
  • Strong negotiation skills and the discretion to resolve issues in a tactful manner
  • High degree of proficiency and confidence using Oracle, Outlook, SAP, and MS Office applications and specifically MUST have advanced Excel skills
  • Strong work ethic and professional attitude
  • Second language is preferred
  • Volunteer experience
