Purpose: The QC Lab Technician & Color Specialist is responsible for color matching purchased bulk in-house. This position allows the company to better meet production demands by avoiding a possible dependency on existing bulk suppliers. It saves costs and supports the achievement of on-time delivery, resulting in a high level of customer satisfaction.
This position reports to the Director of Quality. Other positions reporting to the Director of Quality are QC Lab Technician, Incoming QC Inspector, and QA Inspector.

Ensure 100% Color Match of all purchased bulk material

Prioritize shade to match based on demand provided by commodity buyer.
Submit a sample to the spa for performance testing after reviewing the shade of color with Supervisor.
Submit duplicate copies of test questionnaires to the spa along with the sample.
Maintain submission and priority list of color matched shades.
Prepare quantitative formula with costing after spa approval has been obtained.
Initiate product stability immediately upon spa approval.
Route, distribute, and file approval forms.
Validate pilot batches of approved color matched shades.

Assist in evaluating bulk material and pre-ship samples.

Evaluate bulk and pre-ship samples per standard operating procedure (SOP).
Provide timely approvals or rejections; documenting results.
Notify supplier, Supervisor, Planner and Commodity buyer if pre-ship sample is approved or rejected timely.
Issue non-conformance notification (NCN) for rejected bulk and notifying Director of Quality, Production Manager and Planner.
Issue approvals or rejection labels for in-process bulk.
Maintain samples of approved bulk and pre-ship samples.

Performs adjustments to batches, as needed

Evaluate bulk and pre-ship samples per standard operating procedure (SOP).
Provide timely approvals or rejections; documenting results.

Ensure document verification and control according to company standards.


Review batch sheets to verify whether the current revision number is used and verify percentage of composition.
Issue batch numbers and logging in batch numbers on QA spreadsheet before submitting to the compounder staff.
Verify inspection documents to be submitted to Quo/Shoppers Drugmart for completion.


Administrative and other duties.

File cofa and MSDS of raw materials.
Regularly maintain work station and area by removing clutter, putting away "retains", artwork, etc.
Perform final verification of QA samples to be submitted to Quo/Shoppers Drugmart.
Coordinate submission of 1st production samples to Quo/Shoppers Drugmart with Production, Customer Care, and Shipping Departments.
