Quality Control Laboratory Technologist

Location: Irvine, CA

Pay Rate: $20-$23/hr 

Shift: 7AM-3:30PM, M-F

Temporary Position (6 months or more)

 

Adecco is assisting a local client in Irvine, CA to source for a QC Lab Technologist II position. The Lab Technologist II is responsible for microbial and chemical testing as it relates to manufacturing and sterilization of medical devices. Practice microbiological techniques, including gram stain, streak plating, fungal identification, dilutions and colony enumeration. Will work with operations and research groups to monitor processes and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Job Duties:

- Bacterial endotoxin testing of final product and RO/DI water.

- Performs ELISA testing for BMP-2.

- Monitors and performs environmental monitoring of RO/DI water system and clean room.

- Product bioburden testing.

- Chemical testing such as: titration, pH, conductivity, osmolarity , residual calcium (using flame AA), and loss on drying.

- Assist in process validation activities.

- Supports internal/external histology tasks such as; reading slides and preparing data sheets and or test reports.

- Performs various product validations in relation to on-going studies and or tests.

- Track, trend and publish monthly reports.

- Support new product development activities.

- Conducts Out Of Specification investigations and participates in root cause analysis.

- Assists with calibrations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

- Performs bacterial endotoxin testing according to SOP's and may be required to validate according to applicable standards

- Performs Environmental monitoring of non-viable and viable air, surface bioburden and RO/DI water bioburden.

- Conducts  Out  Of Specification,  nonconformances and CAPA  investigations  and  participates in

root cause analysis.

- Performs chemical analysis such as titration, pH, conductivity, osmolarity, residual calciu (using flame AA), determination of HCI concentration, determination of formaldehyde concentration, shrink test and loss on ignition according to SOP's.

- Analyze and score histology for osteoinductivity performance.    .           .           .

- Track, trend and publish monthly performance reports as it relates to Environmental monitoring

- Other tasks as assigned

 

Required Qualifications: 

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or other related science   

- Certifications:  NCMR preferred.

- Experience: 2-5  years experience in similar role, medical device or biologic manufacturing preferred. Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must have strong attention to detail and ability in problem solving. Must have good verbal and written communication skills; technical writing - have the ability to generate clear and concise documents and procedures. Preferred to have knowledge in one or all of the following: AATB, QSR, cGMP, ISO 13485, ISO 17025, ISO 11137, ISO 11737 and ISO 14644.

- Ability to utilize a computer, telephone, fax and copy machine as well as other general office equipment. Strong computer skills are required.
