Quality Inspection - McCalla, AL

OBJECTIVE: The Quality Inspector inspects parts as final approval before being received by the end customer, using proper inspection techniques and equipment. This task is also performed accurately, efficiently, and in a professional manner.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect or perform audits on incoming material, using measuring and gaging tools and visual techniques in determining conformance to engineering specifications
  • Detailed inspection of Casting, porosity in machined and case surfaces, machined surface finish, presence of threads, damaged surfaces, damaged threads, omitted operations, missing components and torque
  • Determine the methods and processes needed to measure part conformance according to the allowed dimensional tolerances and normal gaging practices
  • Interpret and apply written inspection standards
  • Document and report non-conformances to specifications using computerized quality documentation system
  • Contain non-conforming parts and materials
  • Other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned

JOB SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge and/or experience in machining or cosmetic defect inspection
  • Attention for detail to inspect for the following defects: Casting, porosity in machined and case surfaces, machined surface finish, presence of threads, damaged surfaces, damaged threads, omitted operations, missing components and torque
  • Comprehension level knowledge and ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Comprehension level knowledge and understanding of inspection techniques and the use of the appropriate measuring tools, equipment, and gages
  • Demonstrated ability in interpreting engineering specifications
  • Demonstrated ability in handling and maintaining precision measuring tools, equipment, and gages
  • Perform visual inspection of machined surfaces, surface defects, cleanliness, and packaging
  • Operating level proficiency using computer software programs
  • Operating level knowledge of material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hoists
  • Perform visual inspection of various types of welds

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Precision machining or Inspection of precision machined parts experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous work experience in a quality background preferred
