Job Summary


This position is responsible for the in process, 1st article, and final inspection of finished products according to the requirements for RTC and the customer.  It may include visual and/or measurement as a method of inspection using various hand tools, open plate inspection, CMM, optical comparator, etc.



 Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Performs in process, 1st article, and final inspection of finished work to ensure compliance with exact customer specification, this may include using lab equipment and measuring tools.
  2. Reject inferior (scrap) product.
  3. Maintain daily records of production and inspection activities, operator quality and labor tickets.
  4. Manage flow of material through department.
  5. Participates in communication between shifts and with departments.
  6. Performs calculations relative to inspection requirements.
  7. Other duties as assigned to the inspection area.



  • Excellent attention to detail and follow up skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Understanding of G D, and T
  • Above average blue print interpretation.
  • Open plate inspection experience.
  • Ability to create excel spreadsheets.
  • CMM experience.


Physical Requirements


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move between 25 and 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Work Environment


The performance of this position normally requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and steel-toed safety shoes.  Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining.  Industrial lighting provided.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
