Reconcilement Specialist

Adecco is assisting a local client recruiting for a current Reconcilement Specialist job in Wilson, NC. This is a 6 month contract position for the right candidate. Reconcile more complex accounts and research/resolve outstanding items in a timely manner to accurately report financials. Maintain necessary internal controls to ensure account reconciliations are performed in accordance with company standards, policies and procedures. Assist, support and provide guidance to junior staff.


1. Reconcile assigned accounts at appropriate consolidated, rollup or individual center level in accordance with company

standards, policies and procedures.

2. Perform or assist with assigned sub-system balancing.

3. Perform or assist with exception items research and resolution; may include clearing system rejects.

4. Monitor potential fraud in assigned accounts, including wire, official check and internal deposit accounts. Complete and file

Suspicious Incident Report (SIR) forms as appropriate. Perform or coordinate escheatment item research and submission as


5. Escalate unresolved items per established account procedures.

6. Maintain necessary supporting documentation for reconcilements.

7. Respond to inquiries related to assigned accounts and outstanding items.

8. Prepare and/or review journal entries and monitor assigned account activity to accurately record the company’s financial transactions in accordance with generally acceptable accounting principles (GAAP) and  internal accounting policies. Maintain proper segregation of duties. Compile and maintain necessary supporting documentation.

9. Prepare and maintain documentation of accounting processes and procedures.

10. Assist with process improvements related to transaction/systems reconciliation process.

11. Prepare and submit required reports to internal and external clients in a timely manner.

12. Assist with training and mentoring of other associates.

Required Skills and Competencies:

1. Associate’s degree in accounting or business, or equivalent education and related training

2. Two years of accounting and/or reconciliation experience

3. Good organizational skills

4. Good problem solving skills

5. Good verbal and written communication skills

6. Knowledge of automated accounting, loan transaction, servicing or recovery systems (e.g. General Ledger, Correspondent Bank, Official Check Operations, Mortgage Servicing Platform (MSP) , Commercial Loan System (CLS), Commercial Loan Construction System (CLSC), Shaw, ACBS, Recovery Management System (RMS))

7. Understanding of fundamental concepts of automated reconcilements

8. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

Desired Skills:

1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Knowledge and training on automated reconciliation systems
3. Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, etc)
4. Financial services experience
