Research Assistant I

A Research Assistant I job in San Diego, CA is available through Adecco Medical and Science. The Research Assistant I position requires a working knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology and animal husbandry to help support in vivo studies to screen therapeutics and devices being developed for various indications. Experience with, dosing and sampling techniques is required.
Research Assistant I job responsibilities include:

Experience in the administration of test substances by various basic methods (i.e., oral gavage, IP, IV, ocular, dermal, etc.).
Manage and observe animals for general health and overall wellbeing.
Experience in the collection of biological specimens (i.e., blood from appropriate vessel from all species of laboratory animals at the site)
Able to perform study related activities in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (GLPs), study protocols, and company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Review documentation to ensure functions performed meet quality control requirements.
Handle, restrain, and provide care for all species of laboratory animals at the site.
Perform study preparation activities including collection tube labeling and room setup.
Performs specialized tasks adhering to SOPs and regulations pertaining to biohazards in BSL2 rooms, while maintaining traffic patterns.
Follows regulations and guidelines to ensure that animals are provided appropriate care to promote physical and psychological well-being and minimize discomfort.
Maintain accurate records in various internal databases.
Support internal research projects to optimize service offerings.
Perform other duties as directed by Management.


High School Diploma or G.E.D.
0-2 years of experience in a laboratory animal facility.
An equivalent combination of education or certification and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
