Project Overview: You'll be involved in researching user needs and human performance in the complex environment of Automobiles (leveraging state-of-the art driving simulators) and helping define the implications our product.

Responsibilities: As a User Experience Researcher, you'll have the opportunity to support our research activities in developing innovative, user-friendly, best-of-breed products. We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication skills, are diligent, detail-oriented, and can work fairly independently.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities: Work with designers, product managers, engineers, and research managers to act upon research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. Scoping and conducting driver distraction testing using formal methodologies and tools including Occlusion Goggles. Observing and running usability testing sessions and interviews. Administering questionnaires, surveys, and interviews (both in the lab and field). Analyzing qualitative & quantitative data collected from a variety of research approaches. Evangelizing research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and presentations. Analyzing, interpreting and summarizing existing research reports.

Required Skills: B.A./B.S. (minimum) or M.A/M.S./Ph.D. (preferred) in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, Cognitive Science, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science, or other related field emphasizing human behavior; or in lieu or degree, related work experience. Minimum 2+ years experience in UX Research or prior experience conducting research in evaluating operator workload in safety critical environments such as auto or aviation (preferred). Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply & execute them in each product phase. Detail-oriented and ability to work fairly independently on a variety of tasks. Interest in general research and user research methods. Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills. Can prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects.

Nice to Have Skills/Not Required: List of extra skills that would be nice to have but are not required to be successful in the position Technical aptitude, familiarity with basic graphic and video editing tools preferred. Prefer working knowledge and experience with statistical analysis methods and demonstrated competency in related software (SPSS, R, etc.) and large datasets.
