Working in the fields of actuators and enclosures, this Field Sales Engineer will be responsible for promoting and selling products and services to businesses (OEM’s, System Partners, Distribution Partners, End Users) to obtains sales/account order, growth, and retention.

B. Essential Functions of the Job

Frequent and continuous travel (up to 60%) throughout assigned territory to call on current, past, and prospective customers to expand market, and increase brand recognition

This is a customer interfacing role with travel regionally to customer sites.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical preferred).
Two plus years’ experience in make-to-order engineering environment.
Two plus years’ experience in low volume manufacturing environment.

Assess customer product needs and provide best solution set(s) including manufacturability requirements while maximizing value proposition

Lead customer accounts to resolve technical issues and maximize value proposition
Work closely with Sales stakeholders providing technical leadership and customer solutions
Develop new customer accounts through engagement of incoming leads
Travel to customer sites (up to 70%) to develop solutions and resolve technical issues
Research and engage prospective customers to introduce NEW offerings
Apply applicable design and engineering compliance standards to ensure product conformance including NEC, OSHA, EN and IECEx standards, EU Directives (ATEX 94/9/EC)
Lead opportunities as owner during appropriate project phases

Marginal Job Functions

Determine product costs, develop pricing models in conjunction with Sales stakeholders (Account Managers)
Develop new products and processes with internal and external stakeholders to meet market demand
Assist in presenting training programs to customers and distributors
Support actions to increase effective market coverage of product lines


Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to frequent assignment changes
Strong conversational and persuasive skills required to find win-win solutions
Knowledge of and ability to apply sales methodologies to overcome customer reservations and barriers to order confirmation
Ability to engage customer directly in a technical manner to secure relationship and order
Ability to take limited information (technical or otherwise) and develop out of the box solutions to meet customer expectations
Working knowledge of ERP and CRM systems
Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD systems (AutoCAD and SolidWorks) and ability to use day to day

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline (mechanical preferred)
Two plus years’ experience in make-to-order engineering environment
Two plus years’ experience in low volume manufacturing environment
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
