DEPARTMENT/TEAM DESCRIPTION
The Crop Science Division Biologics West Sacramento Sample Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordination and execution of biologics sample shipping activities at the West Sacramento site. This will include domestic and international sample shipments in support of Research and Development as well as other functional areas. The position requires effective communication skills and interfacing with internal and external customers globally.

POSITION SUMMARY

Primary function is to execute sample shipments by air freight and generate export documentation, shipping labels, compliance permits etc.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Interpret and apply the pertinent regulatory requirements needed for successful local and global shipping of samples. Maintain certification in multi-modal transportation of dangerous goods.
2. Partner and lead effectively between Site CS Division BLX Sample Logistics Team, Technical Project Leads, Site Biosafety Team, CropScience Division Biological Materials Transportation officers, RTP Sample Logistics, Import/Export Teams and International Trade & Compliance team to coordinate sample shipments (Import/Export) at Crop Science Division, West Sacramento.
3. Ensure compliance and documentation necessary for the movement of Biological materials and/or their chemical derivatives.
4. Serve as decision maker regarding best mode of transportation for samples, which includes interfacing with external stakeholders for road, air and ocean transportation to ensure efficiency.
5. Identify and drive continuous improvement while using independent judgment to drive objectives and completion of assigned projects.
6. Collaborate with Crop Science division Biologics affiliates and 3rd party, freight forwarder, steamship lines, etc. to facilitate export of Global Crop, Seed Treatment and Biological materials while complying with US Export Regulations. Ensuring adherence to Crop Science division Export Management procedures and foreign countries policies.
7. Administer Sample Web and Trial Tracking, Share-point, Kermit, SLS and other systems needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
8. Provide timely status feedback and ensures process training of parties of interest including technical leads, research and the pilot plant organization are current.

REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Education Requirement(s):
• Bachelors degree in technical or related field with at least 2 years of applicable experience


Skill & Competency Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years experience working in a research and development environment
. Demonstrated ability in interacting with QHSE regarding compliance, SDS, transportation classifications and disposal of unused sample stock.
. Proficient in providing quality over-sight and compliance to field and researchers on shipping hazardous and/or Bio-hazardous material.
. Ability to identify questionable test substances based on appearance and interacting with the formulation chemist/microbiologist to resolve identified issues
. Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
. Spanish language skills a plus.
