Seafood Plant Business Manager

Provides strong leadership, directs day to day operations at the seafood processing facility. The Plant Manager is responsible for safety, quality, production, sanitation, shipping, receiving, administration, P&L, and maintenance. As well as recruiting, motivating and retaining processing team on multiple shifts.
Involved in all aspects of plant management, including SOPs, GMPs and SSOPs.

Position reports to the Director and is the senior manager on site.

Responsibilities
-Design and implement strategies to achieve maximized throughput, recovery and standard labor cost targets for all product lines while ensuring delivery of product that meets quality standards.
-Build an effective team, by implementing recruitment and development strategies designed to train and motivate employees.
-Plan and direct work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline as appropriate to build strong and productive team.
- Work with other management colleagues to develop production, cost, quality and safety targets for plant products.
-Work with other management colleagues to ensure all service, cost, quality and safety targets for plant products are achieved.
-Forecast and manage overhead (non labor operating expenses) and capital budget.
-Work with Q.A. to ensure all quality, safety and inventory SOPs are followed
-Work with Q.A. to ensure compliance with ODA,FDA and other regulatory product safety requirements
-Maintain systems to assure facility meets all BRC food safety system requirements
-Achieve optimum staffing levels that balance budget, expense with productivity goals.
-Maintain continuous focus on safety by addressing both physical safety issues and developing employee’s safety awareness.
-Understand plant processing procedures and implementation of new methods incorporating positive changes in plant design and process
-Assures Plant has maintained all required licensing.
-Works with sales team to create and implement products for customer demands.
-Manages key elements of production and record keeping for seafood plant operations to achieve successful, continuous operations, and maximum profitability.
-Lead operations team in improving process flow and reporting systems in production, quality assurance, and processing analysis.
-Develop standardized reporting structure for executive management - custom processing arrangements and daily reporting.
-Organizes staff and provides direct input into processing operations and activities.
-Understanding of plant processing procedures and implementation of new methods incorporating positive changes in plant design and processes.
-Assists in managing the planning effort to accommodate new developments to maintain maximum competitive position.
-Coaches and motivates employees according to Company’s policies and procedures to achieve maximum performance and maintain high morale.

-Strong organizational and leader ship skills with experience managing metrics, analyzing efficiencies, budgeting, quality control, and profit & loss analysis.
-Knowledge of internal and external influences affecting the future of the seafood industry and company.
-Ability to work independently and proactively.
-Demonstrates high professionalism and organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple/simultaneous projects.
-Four-year bachelor’s degree preferred.
-Minimum four years food processing and operations experience, in a supervisory capacity SEAFOOD EXPERIENCE PREFERRED.
-Cross-functional ability in all aspects of plant management.
-Able to plan projects involving coordination and collaboration with other departments.
-Flexibility to work long hours during high/peak processing seasons.
-Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point proficiency.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
