POSITION SUMMARY:

Senior accountant will be supporting Accounting Manager (AM) in carrying out responsibilities of accounting department, supervise accounts payable function, prepare month end journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, commission and tracing reports, reports for customers/vendors, and payroll.  Responsible for supervision of accounts payable and reception functions. administering the employee credit card program, financial analysis, and report writing.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement review for US.
  • Prepares/distributes commission and tracing reports (acute care, primary care, field service, and international sales). Adds new salesperson codes, updates customer database for salesperson changes, and updates US sales region territory maps.
  • Prepares/ distributes monthly reporting for GPO (group purchasing organization) contracts. Pulls updated member lists for all GPOs and makes them available for internal use and sales admin group.
  • Prepares/distributes periodic reports to the Primary Care Distribution customers. 
  • Prepares/ submits to payroll service biweekly payroll, prepares reports and funds HSA and 401k plans.  Sets up new states for payroll taxes.
  • Prepares quarterly/annual financial reports required by government and VA.
  • Calculates monthly medical device taxes and submits quarterly returns.
  • Assists AM in administration of corporate credit card program.
  • Directly /managing subordinates with daily oversight of accounts payable and reception
  • Responsible for ensuring proper staffing; identifies top performers/underperforming employees and develops appropriate plans for development; actively engages and motivates employees.   Direct reports, conducts annual reviews and sets specific goals /objectives based on overall competencies.
  • Assists AM during external financial audit, profit sharing audit, and income tax preparation.
  • Assists with account coding questions related to company credit cards, purchasing, and A/P.
  • Prepares accounting for KOH entity and prepares year-end return.
  • Establishes regular department meetings to promote communication /information flow.
  • Works with Senior Leadership to develop the necessary structure, resources and processes to manage the organization’s current activities and long-term projected growth.
  • Assists AM with projects and other accounting, financial or administrative tasks as needed.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Master’s preferred.
  • CPA Certification or eligibility to take the CPA exam for recent graduates.
  • 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the medical industry.
  • Thorough understanding of financial accounting principles.
  • Experience using Excel or other spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to effectively mentor employees.
  • Experience using ERP Software.
  • Experience preparing journal entries and financial reports.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including: Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
