Reporting to Facilities department. The project manager will provide management for small to mid-size projects, minor renovations at a research university within labs, office space, and the residence hall. The project manager will work across many levels and negotiate and form alliances with clients and vendors to ensure a smooth workflow and guarantee projects meet quality, schedule and budget expectations. Specific responsibilities include consulting with the client (Facilities, Engineering and Construction, Planning, and staff) to determine requirements of the project; scope out the project and secure approval to proceed; develop project plans, schedule and budget; coordinate efforts with appropriate planning and design staff to conform with engineering practices and requirements; coordinate general contractors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors on project deliverables, quality, specifications and materials; obtaining approvals at various stages of project development; reviewing bids and contracts for materials and construction services; preparing high quality correspondence, reports, and project record; and working collaboratively with the team to develop, document, and implement new process and quality standards and metrics. Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, demanding environment.

Basic Qualifications
Experience in construction management, architecture or engineering. Five to Ten years related experience preferably in a large academic or research institution. Must have demonstrated project management, renovation and relocation experience. Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels in a demanding environment. Demonstrated ability to act decisively in situations and independently resolve moderate issues and recognize when to escalate issues before they are critical.

Additional Qualifications:

Ability to move from concept to finished project, be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently with minimal management oversight. Excellent organizational & customer service skills. Excellent listening, written, verbal, and presentation skills. Knowledge of Word, Excel and Auto Cad preferred.
