Sensory Technician

Adecco is currently assisting a local client in their search for a Sensory Technician in the Bridgewater, NJ area.

 

Responsibilities

 

Sensory panelist located at fast growing nutrition-based consumer goods company Bridgewater, NJ.  

 

Trained to taste ingredients and finished products (both chocolate and non-chocolate) to describe and quantify how they taste.  This job requires extensive tasting of large quantities of product and will also require you to perform some additional duties, including data entry, filing, word processing, etc. 

 

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

 

  • Advanced sensory acuity

 

  • Ability to describe different tastes, smells, and textures

 

  • Ability to work in small groups

 

  • Free from allergies and food related diseases

 

  • Some knowledge of computer systems

 

  • Good interpersonal skills

 

  • Enthusiasm and availability

 

In this position, you would play an integral role in the development of new products and platforms as well as maintaining and enhancing product quality of existing products, identifying flavor or texture problems and their sources, and providing direction for corrective actions/product improvements. Applicants should have an interest in learning more about foods and beverages. 

 

Acuity Testing

 

You will be asked to participate in acuity testing. This includes a series of tests to determine whether your sense of taste or smell is impaired. Taste and smell testing will be performed to determine if you have any taste and smell disorders, including reduction in the ability to taste or smell; total loss of taste or smell ability and/or taste or smell distortions.

 

 

Training & Practice Sessions

 

It is important that potential panelists understand the time commitment necessary to hold a position as a taste tester on this panel. After the acuity testing, dedicated training and practice sessions will be arranged for onboarding of new taste testers.

 

Vacation time/time off needed during scheduled training/practice and/or subsequent panel sessions will need to be communicated and approved by the panel leader ahead of time. If sessions are missed without prior approval, you may risk loss of your spot as a taste tester.

 

 

All Training & Practice Sessions are paid

 

 

Normal panel hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 9:00 am – 1:00pm. Although every effort is made to maintain consistent panel hours, client needs, and project timing are beyond our control and may result in session cancellations or additions.

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in sensory laboratory management preferred
  • Technical training in scientific or food-related field is preferred
  • $20-$25/hr depending on experience
