Shipping Clerk

Adecco is assisting a local client in recruiting for a Shipping Clerk for a successful manufacturing company in Fond du Lac, WI. This is a temp to hire assignment.

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, the Shipper packs and loads products and materials to be shipped by common carrier, contract carrier or other delivery services and performs the final inspection process to ensure all shipments are accurate and shipped in accordance with company policies and procedures.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Pack, crate or blanket wrap materials for shipment in accordance with the order ship list.

Perform accurate quality and quantity checks on all outgoing orders to ensure orders shipped are complete, accurate, and undamaged. Mark the product with identification numbers according to departmental procedures.

Move products to and from the warehouse either manually or with a fork lift truck.

Process and maintain shipping records, including shipping bills and lists, manually and/or in the company computer to ensure accurate inventory of products. Track shipments with carriers as necessary.

Perform accurate on-line data entry for UPS services.

Use the company vehicle to run local errands as directed by the manager

Complete special projects as assigned.

Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.

Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.  Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Demonstrated ability to use a tape measure and to apply measurements to processes

Demonstrated ability to correctly fill out and consistently follow proper procedures for Stock Material Usage Forms.

Shows initiative and demonstrated ability to accurately complete assigned tasks while maintaining budgeted work hours assigned to projects, providing internal customers with high quality, well labeled / identified project component pieces

Demonstrated ability to operate hand tools, in a safe and effect manner, DA Sander, hand drill, miter saw, skill saw, various drills, buffer, utility knife etc.

Demonstrated proper and accurate labeling of product

Demonstrated ability to properly clock in and out of projects ensuring accurate costing

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to prepare forms, reports, and routine correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively with employees within the organization as well as with vendors and customers. Ability to read and interpret documents such as shipping reports, bills of lading, invoices, ship lists, and other related documents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires the ability to obtain a forklift operator's license and must have a valid driver's license.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate yard tractor and a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.  Also requires the ability to operate a fork lift truck as well as a variety of power, air and hand tools, versa packer, shrink wrapper and large vehicles including a truck, van and yard tractor.
