DEPARTMENT:                     Operations

REPORTING TO:                  Warehouse Manager

SUMMARY: 

Responsible for coordinating and the documentation involved in the shipment of products and materials received by truck.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares sales orders for shipment based on customer requirements and requested ship dates for shipping functions. Drives productivity and schedule attainment in the department. Check orders for accuracy of product being shipped.
  • Schedules appointments for incoming and outgoing freight carriers.
  • Coordinates check-in and out for truck drivers picking up shipments and provides proper documentation, ensuring appropriate signatures are obtained.
  • Communicates with carriers on shipment pickup and routing. Work with carriers to research and obtain favorable freight rates for all prepaid freight.
  • Coordinates with internal and external customers to determine special shipping requirements.
  • Provides and coordinates preparation of various other documents and reports regarding product shipments and items received.
  • Coordinates with satellite warehouse ship point on inbound/outbound shipments, routing, communication, and scheduling.
  • Prepares for the receipt and shipment of small parcels, including coordination of product and display for trade show events.
  • Provide support to Sales/Accounting teams by communicating needed information to resolve customer deductions as well as conflicts or discrepancies with customer orders and inventory available.
  • Helps to promote a positive safety culture by ensuring all safety policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Leads and maintains 5S in work area.
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment when needed.
  • Assists in other functions as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Some experience in logistics, traffic or trucking industry preferred
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal),interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills required
  • Computer literacy, Microsoft Office products required
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Forklift certification from Scepter will be required
  • Ability to use warehouse management systems (WMS)

Work conditions consistent with a general office environment.  Occasional exposure to manufacturing facilities requires the ability to use all necessary safety equipment.  Standing and walking are frequent and required.
