Shipping Group Leader


Support warehouse operations by ensuring a safe and productive working environment.  Provide back up for the shipping clerical and the Material Handling Supervisor as needed.


Essential Duties / Regular Responsibilities:

  • Gain access to various customer web portals to route customer PO’s
  • Facilitate and conduct training of new associates in all functions related to shipping
  • Perform forklift battery changes using a motorized pallet jack attached to a magnetic battery changing carriage
  • Safely and effectively operate powered equipment or a manual pallet jack to transport pallets within the warehouse or to load/ unload trailers
  • Effectively navigate the Fed Ex/UPS/USPS systems via desk top computer to process packages
  • Safely and effectively lift cartons onto the small parcel scales to weigh the carton then transfer the carton to another pallet
  • Maintain consistent and acceptable productivity, and quality standards
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Support and maintain an orderly and clean work environment through continuous cleaning efforts
  • Act as a “utility” associate to back up any functionality within the shipping department, as needed.
  • Support other departments in the warehouse as business dictates
  • Prioritize and handle multiple tasks and independent projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Maintain flexibility in work schedule to best support business needs.





  • High School diploma or its equivalent.



  • Six (6) months or more experience in a clerical or team lead role or in a position similar in scope and responsibility is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience operating a sit down lift, reach truck, and motorized pallet jack is preferred.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both oral and written.
  • Fundamental computer operation understanding and familiarity.
  • Effectively operate, read, and interpret RF scanners and other similar equipment.
  • Safely and effectively operate basic packaging tools and equipment (i.e. pallet truck, computer, printer, labeler, tape gun, razor knife, impulse sealer, basic hand tools, bolt cutters, grinder, etc.).
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel



  • Temperature controlled office with fluorescent lighting and nominal noise level;
  • Exposure to varying temperatures while working in the dock area, and loading/unloading trucks;
  • Warehouse/distribution floor with ventilation, climate-control system, moderate lighting, and moderate noise level;
  • Powered industrial equipment (i.e. forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, etc.) frequent warehouse/distribution floor in and around common throughways.



Must be able to effectively perform the following on a frequent basis:

  • Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities;
  • Work at least 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime as needed;
  • Move, sit, hear, discern, speak, and see;
  • Use finger dexterity to type, adjust, move, handle, perform, operate, install, attach, remove, apply, grasp, manipulate, and measure;
  • Move about the warehouse, lift, turn and handle boxes and other items; grasp, turn, reach from floor to above head, manipulate, push and pull items of varying sizes and weights, twist, adjust position, stoop, bend, and crouch; and
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
