Shipping Receiving Clerk

SUMMARY:
Performs all assigned Receiving, Shipping, Warehouse, Stores,
& production storage area duties at the site.
Occasionally serves as a back?up for purchase order execution
or material handling.
1. KNOWLEDGE:
Performs work requiring specialized knowledge of department
processes and procedures is required to perform related tasks;
makes moderate use of computers and apply equivalent logistics
knowledge and principles; knowledge of the hazards associated
with chemicals and equipment used in the work area, safe work
practices, and Lean Management tools. Knowledge of safe
movement of hazardous materials. Must possess or be able to
attain necessary training and certifications for Hazardous
Materials Transportation of goods to customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Maintain clean & organized stock areas to 5S
standards within Stores, Warehouse, and outlying
production storage facilities across the plant site;
? Operate material handling equipment (carts, pallet
jacks, rolling racks, lifts, etc) in a safe manner;
? Drive Company vehicles to transfer materials
between buildings;
? Preparing goods and documentation for shipments to
customers or for transfer to outlying production
storage facilities by packaging, labeling, palletizing,
and shrink?wrapping as might be required;
? Contribute to finding solutions, making
improvements & eliminating waste;
? Labels crates and/or containers with appropriate
information & instructions;
? Serves as back?up for purchase order execution;
? Participate in daily SQDC board updates, as well as
actively participate in 5S and 5D problem solving
activities within the shift; actively participates in the
Lean Management System;
? Initiates TPM checklist for forklift maintenance as
required;
? Supports cross training by learning new processes as
assigned;
? Experienced operators participate and mentor
operators with less experience to ensure successful
and effective teams;
? Actively engages in effective teamwork and conflict
resolution;
? Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance;
? Must be able to work any shift and cover overtime as
necessary to maintain business operations.
2. EXPERIENCE:
Within 12?18 months a person should be knowledgeable on
material handling, receiving, shipping both hazardous and nonhazardous
materials domestic and international via all modes of
transportation; must be proficient with computers and knowledge
of various systems and/or the ability to quickly learn new systems;
must be knowledgeable on material movement and Lean
Management Systems with the site and should be operational
with the ERP system.
3.3. JUDGMENT:
Must recognize any non?standard conditions and know when to
take the necessary action or seek advice. Must exercise judgment
in planning the shipment of materials both on time and in
compliance with transportation regulations. The employee should
have the ability to coordinate between departments and team
members to ensure shipments on time.
4. MANUAL SKILL:
The employee operates moderately complex mobile powered
equipment such as a fork truck in consistently tight quarters with a
moderate level of pedestrian traffic present. The employee
primarily utilizes physical effort for operating equipment or for
performing activities such as lifting, packing, etc.
5. MATERIALS & PRODUCTS:
Daily review of shipping schedule and necessary coordination with
sales, production and/or quality assurance in order to ensure on-time
delivery of products to customers. Some damage to or loss of
materials or products is possible and appropriate care must be
taken.
6. TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
Care is needed in operating fork trucks and support equipment to
prevent damage to equipment, facility and possible injury.
7. MENTAL EFFORT:
Performs mental work involving complex operations requiring
close attention to detail. Must be proficient with computers and
knowledge of various systems and/or the ability to quickly learn
new systems. Close attention to detail is required at all times to
avoid late shipments, stock?outs or safety incidents.
8. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
High physical exertion is required. The employee primarily utilizes
physical effort for operating equipment or for performing
activities such as lifting, packing, etc. While performing the duties
of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use
hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb
or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or
smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee
frequently lifts/carries up to 50 pounds. The employee
occasionally lifts/carries 140 lbs with assistance. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision,
color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to
adjust focus.
9. SURROUNDINGS:
The employee is regularly exposed to all weather conditions even
when weather is severe; may be exposed to considerable heat or
cold for intervals, but not for extended periods. The noise level in
the work environment is usually moderate.
