Shipping & Receiving Supervisor 2nd Shift


Adecco is assisting a local client in recruiting for a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor Position on 2nd shift in Lafayette, IN. This is for a contract position. Pay is up to $29 an hour depending on experience. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the shipment of product to customers both internationally and domestically. This person is responsible for the accuracy of shipments and for meeting all documented service requirements. Position Requirements:

-Provide daily direction and leadership to the Shipping & Receiving team members.

-Make recommendations for manpower needs, including involvement in employee discipline in the Shipping & Receiving Department.

-Accountable for staffing, training, motivation and leadership within area of responsibility

-Develop a team work environment, build departmental standards for performance, ensure that all employees in the Shipping & Receiving Area are properly trained.

-Ensure that materials shipped/received are verified against pertinent documentation.

-Establish and maintain procedures for meeting company and customer delivery commitments.

-Recommend and assist in implementing operating procedures and promote continual improvement within the department and the company.

-Follow shipping methods for materials using the operations procedures and resolve urgent issues for expedited deliveries to the customer.

-Coordinate shipment of goods by scheduling containers to meet shipping demands.

-Interface with other departments to resolve problems with timely delivery or disposition of order cancellations.

-Support schedules and tracking of all inbound and outbound shipments.

-Ensure that daily goals are met and sustained daily/weekly/monthly.

-Ensure company policies and procedures are reviewed often and notify the Materials Manager when such policies or procedures may need to be revised to increase work efficiency in the department.

-Identify roadblocks to processes and procedures and offer suggestions for improvement.

-Oversee all incoming, outgoing and warehouse movements.

-Ensure that all manufactured products and raw materials are effectively managed to meet all US and foreign government export laws and regulations. Ensure accuracy and proper retention of all export documentation. Manage company’s compliance with applicable US and foreign export regulations.

-Occasionally create bills of lading for outbound shipments.

Essential Skills and Experience:

-Bachelor’s Degree required

-Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience required

-Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory skills required

-Knowledge of and experience with all shipping functions -- foreign and domestic -- including domestic air bills, international commercial invoices and letters of instruction required

-Knowledge of and experience with packaging materials used to safely transport all product required

-Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goods required
