Job Purpose

The role of the Business Analyst is to provide critical analysis for the Store Planning & Design team for numerous projects & initiatives. Managing & facilitating New Stores that out perform their opening sales, manage & facilitate unit per linear foot analysis which entails measuring product size in stores bi-annually, maintaining the teams primary tool called the “Stat Sheet” which is a tool that calculates store capacity based on store specific units, and managing & maintaining the Rack Report which is a toll that let’s stores know their forecasted units by department 3 months out. 85% of the Analyst’s role will be analytical/excel work with the remaining 15% facilitating meetings.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing & facilitating New Stores that out perform their opening sales which involves, analyzing weekly & monthly reports, recognizing trends, and making recommendations based on project data - Weight 43%
  • Facilitation & Maintenance of the “Rack Report” which involves overhauling the current tool, re-programing it, and maintaining it. Also, generate monthly reports that reflects forecasted store units – Weight 31%
  • Unit per Linear Foot & Store Stat Sheet Maintenance which entails executing site visits to measure product size per fixture & department and recap their finding to Ops Executives – Weight 26%

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related analytical fields

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Ability develop modules using Microsoft’s Office VBA
  • Ability to develop templates and user forms, and rapid distribution of updates
  • Ability to reference and enable network connections (SQL query development)
  • Competence in importing VBA object libraries
  • Strong decision making skills with the ability to analyze situations and make logical conclusions.
  • Able to handle service matters professionally, confidentially, and quickly.
  • Must be self-reliant and self-assured to make independent decisions within framework of company protocol.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to calmly handle high stress situations with tact and professionalism
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize these tasks, and follow-up to ensure timely results.

Proficiency in the use of computers for:

  • Advanced MS Excel skills - using Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability develop modules using Microsoft’s Office VBA
  • Ability to develop templates and user forms, and rapid distribution of updates
  • Ability to reference and enable network connections (SQL query development)
  • Competence in importing VBA object libraries
  • Creation of pivot tables, bar graphs, and spreadsheets using Excel
  • Ability to apply V-lookups to project Excel worksheets
  • Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar
  • Internet

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in an analyst role is required.
  • Microsoft Excel experience is required.
  • Experience in a retail setting not required, but is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of applicable systems
  • Ability to solve problems through independently analyzing large, data sets; develop/utilize analytical tools to summarize findings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group – executives, managers, and subject matter experts within and outside of the department.

 

Working Conditions

Business Analyst works in an office environment but the role may sometimes take the employee to a non-standard workplace.

Business Analyst must be able to work on a computer for several hours at a time, have hand eye coordination, and can sit for long periods of time.

Business Analyst must be able to see information in print and/or electronically.

Position requires the following:

  • Routine deadlines with sufficient lead time;
  • Variance in work volume (seasonal and predictable);
  • Priorities can be anticipated and some interruptions are present;
  • Involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from other persons other than immediate supervisor.

Local travel up to 5% may be required.  Travel or other inconveniences have advanced notice.
