Tests, troubleshoots and modifies PCBA's electronic sub-assemblies, and complex integrated electronics hardware by performing the following duties.

  • Supports testing during engineering development.
  • Discusses design and test requirements with Electronic Engineers and draws sketches to clarity design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with Quality Manager to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Writes test plans and procedures, format and prepare test reports.
  • Records test data, applying quality control procedures.
  • Sets up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production units.
  • Develops customized test software and systems to verity functionality of product hardware within Windows, UNIX, Linux or embedded operating systems.
  • Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.
  • Analyzes and interprets test data troubleshoots and resolves failures and prepares failure analysis reports. Reports all results to the Project or Engineering Manager.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as performance, mechanical, and electrical, characteristics.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Specify and set up test stations for low volume, automated, production testing.
  • Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.S.) or equivalent from four-year college or university; 7-10 years applied & related experience (testing components; running diagnostic tests; interfacing software with designer; debugging; product specification; preparing reports or summary of findings; must have or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read schematics and identify components (type and usage). Must have familiarity with acceptance test procedures and qualification testing requirements for aerospace and defense industry products including environmental and EMI testing and be familiar with LCD and LED displays a plus.



Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel Power Point programs; testing and diagnostic programs.



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.



Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
