The Staff Accountant primary responsibilities will include general ledger accounting, preparing monthly account reconciliations/analyses and assisting with the accounts payable and accounts
receivable activities when required. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will assist with the month-end close activities, and preparation of other reports as directed by the Senior Accounting Manager. The position requires an organized and efficient individual with excellent customer service skills, and PC based technical/analytical skills. The successful candidate will
also possess strong written and verbal communication skills for use in dialogue with internal and external ‘customers’ of RFS. The capacities to research data, communicate recommendations, solve problems and independently make decisions that fall within policy are also essential traits required for this role. Key competencies for a successful candidate will include attention to detail and accuracy, organizing and prioritizing, problem-solving skills, team work and the ability to meet deadlines.

 

The Staff Accountant is responsible for:

  • General Ledger Accounting
  • Preparation of journal entries
  • Preparation of internal financial reports as directed by the Senior Accounting Manager
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivables functions as required (backup capacity)
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly account reconciliation and analysis process
  • Assists in the company’s monthly closing
  • Assists with reviewing expenses, freight, etc. as assigned
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
    Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Assisting in special projects whenever asked.

 

Skills, knowledge and abilities

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • Knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Proficient in data entry and management 2-3 year
  • work experience - in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Computer skills: advanced Excel, Word & Outlook. Working knowledge of SAP is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly analyses
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, and has excellent time
