Strategic Sourcing Project Specialist

Adecco is currently seeking a Strategic Sourcing Project Specialist for a national biotechnology company in Minneapolis, MN near Coon Rapids. This contract position is intended to provide project management support to execute workload transition decisions including: product transfers to best cost country providers, high level/top level product outsourcing, low cost region sourcing initiatives, and make to buy strategies. This position is responsible for collaborating with company leadership and functional managers, including product line leaders to identify opportunities, define project plans, and coordinate the necessary activities to execute and deliver expected benefits. Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in product portfolio rationalization pre-work activities to include: data mining and analysis, inventory where-used assessment, and disposition strategies.
  • Assemble and present request for quote (RFQ) packages to perspective sub-contract suppliers, be the point of contact for suppliers with any questions.
  • Prepare, complete, and present to leadership Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Models.
  • Manage the first article build and qualification process with suppliers and internal functions.
  • Work with supplier and technical group in identifying needed work instructions, or other training materials needed for product transfer execution.
  • Explore with suppliers opportunities for vendor owned or consignment inventory fulfillment strategies and work with supplier and buyer to implement.

Job Description:

  • Provide project leadership necessary to ensure effective execution of the identified initiatives outlined by BU, Division, or functional leadership.
  • Participate in product portfolio rationalization pre-work activities to include: data mining and analysis, inventory where-used assessment, and disposition strategies.
  • Assemble and present request for quote (RFQ) packages to perspective sub-contract suppliers, and be the point of contact for suppliers with any questions.
  • Prepare, complete, and present to leadership Total Cost of Ownership Models.
  • Support production in the execution of any last-time builds or inventory re-purposing.
  • Manage the first article build and qualification process with suppliers and internal functions.
  • Maintain ERP System.
  • Work with supplier and technical group in identifying needed work instructions, or other training materials needed for product transfer execution.
  • Plan production ramp-up or transition, then work with assigned buyer in execution of plan.
  • Explore with suppliers opportunities for vendor owned or consignment inventory fulfillment strategies and work with supplier and buyer to implement.
  • Work with Global Supply Chain Team in executing global fulfillment initiatives for each product transferred.
  • Track project execution and report results to BU and Division Leadership.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree Required (Business Management or Engineering); MBA preferred.
  • Training and min 5 years of experience in Project Management including:
    • Managing and tracking outsourcing process from end-to-end (doc collection, 1st article, RFQ submission, cost analysis, etc.)
    • Leading teams, managing people and complex projects
  • 5+ years experience in Operations and Supply Chain/Production Planning leadership roles.
  • Must have Outsourcing experience including:
    • Collaborating/negotiating with contract manufacturers
    • Strategic sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Product transfer/outsourcing experience with global contract manufacturers
  • Thorough knowledge of key commodities, manufacturing strategies, regional dynamics, and current supply chain strategies.
  • Ability to travel international up to 10%.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong initiative and bias for action.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
