Supervisor, OSP Engineering

The Supervisor, OSP Engineering is responsible for the planning, analysis, design, and work guidance supporting OSP and Sr. OSP Engineers efforts for all copper, coax, and fiber optic network facilities. Supervises personnel in all outside plant engineering activities to ensure project objectives, network quality, safety, and budgetary requirements are completed in accordance with industry standards. Develops Statement of Work documents and coordinate activities with other departments, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed on schedule.


Ensure proper resources are available to meet requested services dates
Implement strategies and plans in order to meet established objectives for budget and service dates
Approve staff’s work schedules and assign projects to engineers
Develop build of materials templates for project budgeting and report on actual project cost vs. budget
Perform project management of OSP engineering projects and provides project status reports to Management
Develop scope of work and requirement documentation for contractors
Develop long range OSP engineering plans and budgets
Serve as an escalation point for network issues that cannot be resolved within the Operations department to include analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical problems
Research, select and evaluate all hardware, firmware, and software versions that will be supported in the network
Effectively coordinate activities with other departments to ensure customer requests are completed by desired due dates
Develop specifications and requirements for contracts and coordinate project requirements with vendors and manufacturers
Coach and develop OSP engineers about new processes, quality standards, safety, expense control, and new technologies
Participate in vendor selection process for new networks technology hardware, software and services
Attend appropriate industry conferences, training, and seminars
Prepare or assist in preparing technical white papers, specifications, training documents, or technical presentations as necessary


BS degree in a relevant engineering or technology field is required. Other candidates with a strong technical background and substantial industry or military experience will be considered.
10 or more years of experience in the communications industry is required
3 or more years of experience operating in a leadership role in engineering or technical operations role
Budgeting and financial analysis
Strong project management experience
Fiber engineering or construction background
