Surveyor Bridges

Position Summary:
The Casting Yard Surveyor is responsible for gathering data and positioning precast concrete forms with regard to elevation and alignment. The Casting Yard Surveyor provides this information to the Project Engineer and coordinates work with site personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conduct surveys on pre-cast forms and bridge segments
2. Establish precise locations and measurements with regard to elevation
3. Locate lines for construction
4. Conduct formwork surveys, including “as-built” surveys
5. Conduct instrument tests and routine equipment maintenance
6. Coordinate and schedule surveys with field personnel
7. Direct field personnel in adjustments to form work in real-time
8. Communicate survey data to Engineering staff
9. Assists in training of survey field crews and support staff
10. Meet project requirements or deadlines as set forth by project management
11. Other duties as assigned

1. Knowledge in use of measurement instruments (i.e. Digital Level, Total Station)
2. Excellent organizational and follow up skills
3. Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
4. Excellent computational skills (survey calculations)
5. Excellent verbal and written communication
6. Good time management skills with a proactive approach
7. Self starter with the ability to work independently and as a team member
8. Strong interpersonal skills
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma and at least 5 years relevant experience in surveying, construction, or engineering
2. Experience with collecting and processing manual and digital surveying field data
3. Basic knowledge of total stations and digital levels
4. Understanding of manual survey computation
5. Ability to read construction plans/ drawings
6. Minimum 3 years of bridge construction surveying experience
