Swiss Operator 3rd Shift

Job Purpose:  Operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines, including lathes, multi-axis spindles, milling machines, laser cutting machines, and wire electrical discharge machines and others. Set up simple to moderately complex jobs in order to cut, shape or form small diameter, close tolerance parts, including pointed parts, following standard charts. Set up and operate secondary equipment and perform any other functions within the department that may be necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Attach fixtures to machine bed and position and secure workpiece in fixture according to setup instructions, using clamps, bolts, hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments, such as ruler and caliper).

· Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position in machine spindles as specified, using hand tools, or insert cutting tools in specified machine magazines.

· Load control media to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from data base.

· Monitor, observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.

· Adjust machine feed and speed; change cutters to machine parts according to specs.

· Machine materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber.

Level of Skill, Education and Experience:

3 years experience in a small device manufacturing environment as CNC Operator is required. Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, specs & quality plans. Strong oral & written communication skills, able to follow written & verbal instructions, able to meet deadlines. Good manual dexterity & ability to use measurement & inspection tools.
