Swiss Set up Operator 2nd Shift

Job Purpose:   Set up and operate Swiss CNC lathes, preferably Citizen. Perform various functions, i.e., cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic workpieces, utilizing knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, shop math. Set up simple to moderately complex jobs in order to cut, shape or form small diameter, close tolerance parts, including pointed parts, following standard charts. Set up and operate secondary equipment and perform any other functions within the department that may be necessary. Perform all tasks required of Swiss CNC Operator.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Operate machines, achieving specifications including quality and throughput.

· Implement continuous improvement activities.

· Perform JobBOSS transactions.

· Perform required daily maintenance to equipment and tools.

· Work from established procedures and prescribed operation sequences to achieve parts per print and quality specs.

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

· Follow setup sheet and specs that determine setup procedure, machining sequence & dimensions of finished workpiece.

· Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holder in machine spindles as specified, using hand tools, or insert cutting tools in specified machine magazines.

· Troubleshoot problems, make adjustments to achieve quality output. Adjustments to tooling, machines and/or part programs.

· Simultaneous to CNC machining operation, perform a variety of secondary operations as required.

Level of Skill, Education and Experience:

3 years experience in a small device manufacturing environment as CNC Operator is required. Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, specs & quality plans. Strong oral & written communication skills, able to follow written & verbal instructions, able to meet deadlines. Good manual dexterity & ability to use measurement & inspection tools.
