Adecco is assisting a company in their search for a System Administrator. This is a Direct hire opportunity in the Duluth/Superior area. The System Administrator will be responsible for providing hands-on system administration support, system maintenance, and operations support; recommending software and hardware enhancements; building, configuring, and troubleshooting software and hardware enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure upgrades; diagnosing and correcting computer system issues. Responsibilities of a System Administrator:


  • - Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions

  • - Work on multiple information technology related projects

  • - Running, termination, and/or expansions of network infrastructure. Update and maintain networking equipment and corresponding diagrams. Equipment included but not limited to switches, routers, wireless, etc.
    Install networked application software, granting access to users, creating user groups, managing shared resources, installing peripherals, configuring PCs for security, including setting up batch files and setting permissions for company data file structure

  • - Acts as software support to the entire organization, providing technical assistance to employees and administrative staff. Responds to user requests for service and determines nature and extent of support needed. Primary contact for maintaining and updating intranet and external company website(s)

  • - Create and maintain in-house databases for various departments

  • - Provide documentation, technical guidance, and training for employees and staff

  • - Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots a wide range of software used throughout the organization. Performs hardware/software upgrades to existing computer/phone equipment as needed

  • - Maintain accuracy and working order of ITS. This includes but not limited to, ticketing, inventory, software compliance, reporting, etc.

  • - Responds to software problem calls on site and/or remotely. Investigates error messages and determines resolution

  • - Assist Manager with coordinating with outsourced vendors on IT related subjects when needed

  • - Contacts vendors to obtain specifications, pricing, and other purchase related information needed to guide departments in their selection of software

  • - Maintains up-to-date expertise of Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange, and company IT infrastructure

  • - Prepares system software installation by studying software capabilities and operations, including task scheduling, memory management, file system, and input and output requirements

  • - Detects and corrects work stoppage or errors by conducting tests; monitoring output and entering code changes

  • - Optimizes system efficiency by analyzing performance indicators; changing and revisions

  • - Maintains historical records by documenting system software changes and revisions

  • - Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential

  • - Ensures operation of equipment by following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques

  • - Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

  • - Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed

  • - Confirms project requirements by reviewing program objectives, input data, and output requirements with analyst, supervisor, and client

  • - Arranges project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; preparing a work flow chart and diagram using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language, and logic

  • - Encodes project requirements by converting work flow information into computer language

  • - Programs the computer by entering coded information



  • Qualifications:


  • - Minimum four (4) years' experience with Information Technology

  • - Bachelor's Degree in CIS, MIS, CSCI, or related field/experience

  • - Requires special technical knowledge of techniques and procedures for software, technical hardware, and network support for multiple users

  • - Must understand installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes of software, hardware, networking and accessory equipment

  • - Requires a vast experience of personal computing and software applications

  • - Great interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with others

  • - Must have advanced personal computer word processing, spreadsheet, database (Microsoft Access is desirable, DOS and Windows Skills)

  • - Requires excellent analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions

  • - Basic fundamentals of networking, cabling, constructing jacks/patch panels, and other various communication based solutions

  • - Be familiar with Windows scripting and group policy

  • - Experience in: Microsoft Windows. Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange/Active Directory, Adobe Dreamweaver, Macola ERP system, experience preferred, SQL database maintenance and report, design and modification experience preferred

  • - Programmer Skills and Qualifications: General Programming Skills, Analyzing Information, Problem Solving, Software Performance Tuning, Attention to detail, Software Design, Software Debugging, Software Development Fundamentals, Software Documentation, Software Testing. SQL database maintenance and design, System Administration, Software Maintenance



  • Hours are full time with a salary between $50K-$75K.
