Title: Technical Coordinator

Pay Rate: $45-60hr

Duration: 3 weeks with potential extension

Desired Start Date: ___October 9, 2017_

Scheduled End date: __October 31, 2017

• Provides first-line technical support to all Classroom Magazine Editorial Apple Macintosh users: diagnoses and resolves hardware- and software-related technical problems, including those involving desktop systems, desktop applications, local printing, local area network access, font server access, K4 access, and PDF creation.
• Installs new hardware and software. Logs support activities and helps track of trends in end-user needs and problems, makes appropriate recommendations to end users and manager.
• Retrieves specifically-requested items from archival storage of finished versions of magazines.
• Assists in performing day-to-day network administration: may add, change and remove accounts controlling user access to Classroom Magazines network file servers and electronic mail system; assists users with use of Internet, and in-house telecommunications facilities.
• Assists in documenting specific instructions and best-practice recommendations for Classroom Magazines users.
• Keeps up to date on technical trends in the publishing and computing/technology industries, including hardware/platform trends, desktop publishing, Internet services.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:
• Associate’s degree, prior Apple training and technical support experience in Apple Macintosh environment;
• technical familiarity with Apple Macintosh and related systems in networked environment;
• knowledge of Desktop Publishing tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications, especially InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop; communication skills.
• Must be able to diagnose specific problems at application and file level. Exposure to Microsoft Windows systems desirable.
• Must have prior hands-on experience setting up Macintosh system hardware and software in a publishing environment––must have installed and configured memory and hard drives, Mac OS X operating systems, Internet software, graphics and publishing software.
• Must understand publishing workflow and 4-color offset printing.

Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with system hardware, operating systems and software applications. Must be able to learn both from experience and explanation. Must be able to solve problems independently in an orderly, logical fashion.

• Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Acrobat Pro, CC Manager.
• Apple Mac OS X, Client and Server
• Apple Remote Desktop, Apple System Restore and Apple Image Utility
• FileMaker Pro
• Microsoft Office for Macintosh, including Outlook
• vjoon K4 desirable
