Technical Engineering Operations Specialist

Adecco is assisting a local client recruiting for a Technical Engineering Operations Specialist in the city of Vernon. This is an excellent Direct Hire opportunity with a fast growing and cutting edge new start up! This key role will report to the Director of Maintenance with a dotted line to the Directors, Technical/Sales and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  1. Implement the process design proposals from the process engineering team (50%)

Working with the operations teams, manage and operate a stable recycling and manufacturing process. Implement the process engineers design proposals. Track and monitor manufacturing operational characteristics of temperature, pressure, product quality. Collect the data and perform in-depth analysis. Implement changes to control and improve our operations. Work with a cross-functional team to problem-solve any operational issues that affect our ability to hit commercial quality targets.

 

  1. Provide Technical direction and advice (25%).

Track and monitor software and instrumentation data and provide credible technical direction and advice to ensure effective optimization of our recycling and manufacturing operating equipment. Work with operations staff to implement any new protocols or processes and machine settings that improve the quality of our output.

 

  1. Ensure material quality (25%).

Collect data on company material behavior, analyze the chemistry and make on-the-fly equipment changes to our operations. Perform regular material analysis to understand our material behavior. Ensure the continuous quality of our plastic conversions 

 

 

Skills and experience:

  1. Minimum 3 years of demonstrated technical expertise in plastic recycling and manufacturing. Credible technical leader with ability to produce results
  2. Direct, hands-on knowledge and experience of injection molding preferably with Husky machines, extrusion and thermoforming engineering processes and material behavior preferably with Welex and/or Lyle equipment. Experience with Krones decontamination and wash-line equipment.
  3. 3 years of process engineering experience in a plastic processing/conversion organization
  4. Solid experience identifying and troubleshooting production problems and taking practical preventative or correction action.
  5. Ability to document sound processes.
  6. Highly skilled at software collection and data analysis
  7. The ability to understand complex engineering data and process design recommendations and translate into easy-to-understand process controls and instructions for the operations team
  8. Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with excellent judgment and confident decision-making skills
  9. A leader and a team player with strong collaboration skills, ability to build relationships at all levels

 

 

Qualifications:

  1. Technical degree in Engineering or Chemistry. Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
