Technical Sales Representative

Adecco is assisting a small company in their search for a Technical Sales Representative.

This would be a hybrid between customer-facing application chemist role and sales representative.

The client manufactures and sells a unique GC-FTIR instrument which can be used for a wide variety of applications. They are looking for someone that would have the chemistry background to speak with prospective customers, present them with the technical information on how the system works and the corresponding application, and basically take it through the sales process from start to finish. The product requires a very technical sell and educational sell technique, rather than a more mainstream selling approach.

They are a small company that has been around for 10 years, with employees located in Italy, India and the US. Their company culture has an emerging business feel. They are projecting growth over the next few years, and would like to find someone to grow with them and stay long term. This role would offer upward mobility and the opportunity for professional development.

Job Description:

  • Correspond with prospective customers (chemists) to introduce and teach them about our instrumentation
  • Occasional travel to seminars and conferences
  • Provide technical presentations (in person at conferences or our facility, and online) for prospective customers
  • Find prospective customers within their assigned territory and communicate with them to provide technical data on our instrumentation. Follow the sales opportunities through the full sales cycle, from lead generation to sales closure.
  • Create sales projections and reports
  • Manage a small sales team (would not be immediate)
  • Some travel (25% max)- domestic and international

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related Life Science degree
  • Experience with FTIR/IR, GC, GC-MS instrumentation (chromatography and spectroscopy)
  • Microsoft office suite (Salesforce preferred)
  • Self-driven and proactive with desire to sell
  • Good presentation skills
  • Attitude to manage people (after 1+ year)
