Technical Support Specialist I

Adecco is currently recruiting for a Technical Support Specialist in Colchester, Vermont. A full-time or part-time schedule is available. It is a temp-to-hire role for the right candidate.

Description: The position of Technical Support Specialist I (TSS1) is a customer-interfacing role that provides technical support for NOC operations in the areas of service delivery and/or life cycle services on client projects. A TSS1 will work with customers, field operations, vendors, business partners and NOC teams to complete remote testing, troubleshooting and/or service activations.


  • Functions as a technical resource in a “Call Center” environment handling a mix of products and customers.
  • Prioritizes and selects workload from task queues based on due dates and project requirements or receive work from incoming calls (call queues).
  • Engages and directs the activities of remote resources to coordinate installation, testing and/or troubleshooting activities.
  • Performs testing regiments required based on the product, equipment and situation.
  • Analyzes test result to assure that customer specifications are met.
  • Ability to recognize performance issues and engage the appropriate resource to initiate course of action to correct and meet customer required specifications.
  • Tracks activities in internal and external ticketing or order management systems including: reading and writing notes on work performed, test data collected, test results and interpretation.
  • Serves as escalation point for site resources, providing direction and assistance as needed.
  • Communicates work activities, issues, and roadblocks to management team and other vested parties, internal and external.
  • Serves as knowledge/expertise resource for customers, field operations, vendors, business partners and NOC teams as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
  • Ability to build documents using Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Basic understanding of order management and circuit provisioning and testing
  • Understanding of common network records such as: CLRs, DLRs, installation guides, network diagrams, etc.
  • Ability to interpret and make decisions based on graphical data representations and/or test results
  • Interacts with others in a way that gives them confidence in one’s intentions
  • Basic knowledge of LAN devices and topologies
  • Familiarity with CPE configurations and Cisco IOS commands.
  • Basic understanding of networking terms and concepts, such as:
    • Speed/duplex
    • MAC & IP Addressing
    • Latency, Jitter & Packet Loss
    • Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
    • Class of Service
    • Ping & Trace Route
    • Has a working knowledge of networking and supporting technologies around data and VoIP, at a OSI Layer 1 and a layer 2.
    • Ability to interpret project specific job aids and process documentation.
