Pay Rate: $ 20.83 per hour
Calvert City, Ky or surrounding area

What you would be doing:

The technical writer will be reading several books as below and write a five- to seven-page summary of the books that the client’s staff can read in 15 to 20 minutes to get an overview of each book.

Read and create a summary of each of seven books provided:

Pre-Accident Investigations, Tom Conklin
The Field Guide to Understanding ‘Human Error’, Sidney Dekker
Human Error, James Reason
Just Culture, Sidney Dekker
Drift into Failure, Sidney Dekker

Set Phasers on Stun, Steven Casey

Each summary should include the subject matter of the book, the author’s major contention(s) and major examples/illustrations/findings that support these contentions; the conclusions drawn; any recommendations made by the author. The examples/illustrations don’t have to be repeated, but a reference to where in the book they can be found is expected. For example, “The author discusses a major plane crash that occurred in June, 1979 (pp. 55-57); from the official reports, he concludes…” Also, if the author offers counterarguments to his conclusions, the summary should include the point and counterpoint; again, page references are required.
Each summary’s length will be determined by the length of the book, but in general, should be at least five pages and no more than eight, with the target being five to six pages.
