Adecco Medical and Science is currently recruiting a Technical Writer for our San Diego, California location. The ideal candidatee will have a Bachelors or Masters, with 2-3 years of experience working in the IVD, Molecular Diagnostics, and/or Hematopathology industries. Experience authoring or contributing to technical product manuals, including instructions for use (IFU), highly preferred. Prior NGS and/or molecular biology experience highly preferred. Experience in a regulated industry is required. The position is Temporary with an expected duration of 4 - 6 months and pays $25 - $30 an hour.

The Technical Writer is responsible for contributing to product launch activities that may include: Market Analysis and commercialization of technical product manuals including instructions for use (IFU), market positioning documents and quick reference guides, collecting critical product design data such as ROI, Voice of Customer. This position requires a talent for translating highly complex technical concepts into user-friendly documents that meet the needs of our customers and the requirements of the FDA and other regulatory bodies.


Edits and maintains technical documentation, including product instructions for use (IFU), product literature and technical support documents. Assures compliance/conformity with existing corporate brand and appropriate regulatory guidelines.

Drives the development of high-quality technical content, using product specifications and information from subject matter experts, consisting of cross-functional team members from Product Development, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Technical Support, Operations and Quality.

Manages the Marketing communication documentation (including IFU) review process including: preparation of required documentation for IFU inventory control and network changes, coordination of IFU and software CD production.

Works with third party vendors on marketing document translation projects.

Ensures accuracy, clarity, appropriateness and consistency of documents.

Works with the graphic team to create appropriate visual aids.

Comfortable working in a regulated industry that demands tracking changes to documents and experience working with Quality Management Software.

Works with Product Manager to compile data for product design and requirements including market data, competitive analysis, feature prioritization and ROI.

Cooperates and respectfully communicates with external and internal customers.

Other tasks as assigned.


Exceptional attention to detail.

Advanced Microsoft Word 2007 or later skills (familiarity with charts, styles, TOC, cross-references, tables and complex formatting).

Verbal communication skills that include responding calmly under pressure; leading others in problem solving.

Sense of initiative; intellectual curiosity about technical products and systems; commitment to product knowledge.

Experience managing complex projects with many moving pieces.

The ability to consistently meet critical deadlines.

Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as written and verbal instructions.

Must be an excellent communicator and enjoy working in a highly dynamic team.

Completes projects independently with minimum supervision.

Able to solicit feedback from reviewers and negotiate changes to achieve team consensus.

Able to multitask in a highly innovative environment with changing priorities.

Capable of developing molecular biology assays, preferably with NGS.

Primary activities will take place at a desk and on a computer in a temperature-controlled environment.

Occasional safe lifting of up to 30 pounds.
