The Terminal Manager must supervise the duties of all labor and management associated with all aspects of cargo handling activities, to achieve safe, efficient, and profitable operations.

The Terminal manager will direct, administer and coordinate all stevedore activities ensuring high levels of efficiency, productivity and safety as well as achievement of operational goals and objectives.

This position will report directly to the Managing Director of the Terminal. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Works with Terminal and Stevedores to ensure productive, efficient and quality operation as related to vessels, equipment, and customers.
2. Ensures proper instructions regarding load out, discharge and equipment are given to Stevedore.
3. Works closely with Logistics Teams to aid in efficient flow of cargo to and from the Terminal.
4. Assists the Equipment Department in managing & reporting of equipment status.
5. Assists in coordinating M&R repair activity between terminal and Third party vendors and depots, including data analysis of repair trends and costs.
6. Assist with EDI Reconciliation.
7. Develops an understanding of, complies with, and implements area accident prevent/safety and procedures. Provides training sessions and on-going feedback to the workforce.
8. Keeps senior management informed of work status and problems as they arise.
9. Maintains positive relations with local government agencies. Working in conjunction with Compliance Director to facilitate process improvements.

10. Understands and accurately develops operational schedules, production, safety, and other reports and submits on a timely basis with corrective actions and planning.
11. Ensures all Yard, Vessel, Gate, and Intermodal operations are run safely, efficiently, and within the parameters of the operating budget.
12. Ensures all employees perform their duties with the utmost concern for their safety, their equipment’s upkeep, and the safety and well-being of those working on the Port.
13. Develops understanding of operational procedures and systems. In time, provides ideas and feedback for improvement of procedures.

Key Technical Skills & Knowledge:
 Proficiency with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Basic to Intermediate Skill  Thorough knowledge of principles of terminal operations/ stevedore/ vessel planning operations for break bulk and/or container vessels. Sun Terminals

Job Description: Terminal Manager
 Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage restrictions with regards to hazardous cargo and stability considerations of vessels.
 Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations and related industry governmental regulations.
 Understanding of the gear, equipment and gang make-up required for multiple commodities.
 Thorough knowledge of port practices.
 Ability to make critical decisions in an ambiguous environment, under stressful conditions.
 Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles safely  Self-motivated, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
 Good verbal and written communication skills
 Good organizational and multi-tasking skills

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a fulltime position. Days and hours of work vary depending on the company’s needs.

Travel Some travel will be expected for this position.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
 8+ years in Maritime operations and shipping terminal experience.
 Valid state issues driver’s license, and clean DMV record, Transportation Worker Identity Credential required within 90 days of hire.
 Experience with computerized operating systems. Work Authorization/Security Clearance Employee must be authorized to work in the United States, obtain a port ID, and TWIC license.
