Tool Room Manager

Maintain a SAFE working environment. Management position possessing strong organizational, leadership skills and hands-on experience. Manage Toolroom personnel, workflow and delegate job responsibilities. Fully capable of Toolroom tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Manage Toolroom personnel and department.
· Manufacture new molds per mold designs.
· Modify existing molds to customer engineering changes.
· Maintain customer molds.
· Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure part/tooling meets specifications.
· Provide input to support the design of new molds and improvements of existing mold designs.
· Provide technical support for all other departments; especially the Molding and Maintenance departments.
· Maintain the cleanliness of the equipment and the Tool Room.
· Wear protective safety equipment (PPE).
· Follow all established company procedures ex: (vacation planning, personal time, clock punching and training).
· Comply to proper documentation/form(s).
· Make suggestions to improve molds, procedures, and products.
· Develop and schedule preventative maintenance procedures to keep Tool Room equipment and Molds in appropriate working condition.
· All types of Tool Room/Mold Making activity, including, but not limited to, repairs of molds, Blue print reading, Dimensional layouts, CNC programing, Machining, Welding, Benching, Tight Tolerance parts building, Knowledge and use of precision measuring equipment, Knowledge of Injection Mold design and operation (complex molds), etc.
· Plan work schedule and work flow.
· Assist the design and build of mechanisms, jigs and fixtures.
· Use CAD/CAM software to create CNC programs.
· Apply metallurgy, material physics and heat treating to design.
· Use trigonometric functions to machining process.
· Estimate cost and timing.
· Specify instructions, compile quotes and schedule out sourcing of repairs and fabrication.
· Execute and manage mold maintenance program.
· Review preliminary blueprints of new projects and engineering changes.
· Maintain parts inventory.
· Order raw materials and components.
· Utilize phone communication skills.
· Apply knowledge of proper part design.
· Maintain ISO standards and record keeping requirements.
· Maintain replacement part source and contact records.
· Brainstorm most effective strategies concerning safety, timing, efficiency and cost of new tooling.
· Maintain a proactive approach tooling maintenance.
· Manage toolroom personnel, workflow and delegate job responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

· High School diploma, GED.
· Certificate(s) of Course completion for programs related to job description.
· Completed apprenticeship in a tool making or mold making capacity or equivalent work experience.
· Minimum of Associates degree preferred. Mechanical Engineering | Machinist | Tool & Die making.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

· Regular need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Use welders, grinders, drills, mill and lathes to adjust equipment.
· Use shims, Allen wrenches and other hand-held tools.
· Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable.
· Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out.
· Prolong standing or in stationary position.
· Complete repetitive movements.
· Bend and/or twist.
· Ability to move or traverse about the facilities.
· Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions.
· Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection).
