The role holder is responsible for overall management of Essel Propack Unit on all aspects of operations, production, engineering, quality, maintenance and drive unit profitability. This includes planning, supervising and coordinating for ensuring smooth operations in the entire unit so as to be able to achieve business goals at optimum cost and minimum break downs. Additionally the role holder is also responsible for providing administrative support to the unit, implement world class manufacturing practices and safety standards and promote and maintain good relationships with customers.

D. Key Tasks / Responsibilities




Strategic

Participate with Business Head in annual business planning and budgeting for the unit – in terms of volumes, EBITDA, CAPEX projects, expansion plans, manpower projections, new process initiatives
Provide direction to the manufacturing team for effective operation and achievement of production targets
Responsible for achievement of production targets as per the defined budgets
Drive a customer focused work culture throughout the unit
Design and implement systems and processes to bring out higher machine efficiencies, quality improvements and reduction in wastage on a continuous basis.
Plan and implement systems and processes to meet legal compliance and industrial safety norms in the plant
Responsible for compliance with safety and hygiene norms established by the company
Participate in new product / process/ design development along with the NPD team
Responsible for skill development, acquisition and retention of key talent







Operational
Planning & Strategy

Responsible for planning strategies for expansion of unit operations, controlling of costs through scrap reduction and enhancing unit production capacities
Provide guidance / approvals required to achieve the production targets and ensure timely deliveries to the customers
Participate in new product / design development along with the Customer and sales team and guide the design team accordingly
Define and ensure perfect state of unit assets through preventive and corrective maintenance of all equipments
Plan manpower deployment along with Human Capital team to achieve the production and maintenance targets
Facilitate and support implementation of new systems and process improvements like OHSAS, ISO 16949, KANBAN, 5S
Secure and safeguard company’s financial objectives


Production Operations

Ensure target achievement as per production standards with optimum utilization of resources
Provide leadership for successful day to day operation of the facility
Analyze day wise rejection and recommend corrective actions
Monitor daily quality and delivery schedules - Liaison with the Quality team to address chronic issues
Identify and take necessary actions for continuous improvement in production process
Ensure timely procurement of materials required for processing of orders
Ensure daily monitoring and reporting of total production in the unit


Engineering & Maintenance

Prepare Unit maintenance plan in consultation with the Production & Engineering team
Coordinate with maintenance departments for resolution of any technical problem such as stoppage of machinery/ equipments, leakage, breakdown – address escalations and take corrective actions
Plan and implement machine/ process engineering initiatives- identify ways to increase the production capacity through effective asset maintenance
Participate in cost estimations, negotiation for components and tooling as well as development of vendors
Guide and direct teams incase of inspection and calibration of machines
Recommend machine upgrades when required
Work towards ensuring cost savings in variable costs through innovative ideas and optimum usage of raw materials, tools and consumables


Safety, Health & Quality Standards

Maintain safety, health and environmental policies and procedures for the unit
Work towards creating culture of safe practices in the unit
Train employees on machine and equipment handling to ensure sensitization to the correct methods of handling the same
Ensure adherence to quality control measures laid down by the organization
Supervise & oversee quality inspection of all incoming raw materials, in-process product and finished product with regards to defined parameters


Inventory Management & Logistics

Monitor and account for inventory of raw materials, engineering spares, finished goods etc..
Ensure accuracy of material disbursement for production
Highlight and take corrective actions incase of stock accumulation, discrepancies and abnormal consumption – discuss with procurement and stores team
Minimize obsolete, surplus and scrap material through proper monitoring
Participate in vendor selection and evaluation process for the unit – based on requirement
Coordinate with central planning team / unit planners to ensure appropriate allocation of job machine wise, based on delivery schedules
Ensure timely dispatch of material to the client.


MIS & Reporting

Plan and prepare annual budgets for the Unit along with the Manufacturing Head/ Business Head
Monitor and review unit expenditure for optimization and maintain records of the same
Monitor manpower, consumables, inventory costs and prepare reports as required by the Management
Prepare and share regular stock reports with Procurement team
Ensure proper documentation of receipt and dispatch along with all data entries on ERP
Study and identify projects for up gradation/ modification at the unit and prepare project reports accordingly


Customer Relationship Management

Maintain good relations and constant communication with all customers to understand their needs and also their satisfaction levels through regular meetings along with the sales team
Meet delivery schedule and quality norms consistently as stated by customer
Meet customers to take feedback and resolve complaints


Other Responsibilities

Responsible for ascertaining areas of improvement and recommending process modifications to enhance operational efficiencies of the systems
Identify and develop vendors for procurement of materials along with Procurement team- Participate in negotiations, vendor evaluation and contract management process
Address unit related statutory requirements- liaison with Government Authorities when required




























Educational requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business/ Finance/ Management/ Operations or other related field with 12-15 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree, Six Sigma/ Green Belt or Black Belt certification
Must have exposure to Union Management
Must have 5-7 years of experience in a leadership/ management role at a manufacturing facility
Must have experience in production planning, logistics and equipment maintenance
